Sure, all that could be true. Sure, you never saw Francis or Cat airball too much in their rookie season, but give Langford (not sure where that originated, hehe) a break. Like GATER said, he only cost us $465,850. What else could we get for that price?

    Breakout season coming soon! [IMG]

    Good luck!

gram! hows it goin man?! so it took you a whole day to come up with that, eh? i can totally tell, and let me just say, im incredibly impressed with your simply magical method of taking out these bad little men. i mean, members all over the board should realize that THIS is the way to deal with getting anger off your chest. so they threw insults at you huh? sorry gram! but i looked and i really couldnt find those personal insults you were alluding to. ahh there it is, someone called your post ignorant. wow! where do some of these people get off? actually gram!, if you didnt notice, i think im guilty here too. i said a few things that i really shouldnt have. i mean who am i to tell you how to avoid getting hated on? and then i had the nerve to actually go point to point w/ your post and give an honest rebuttal based on my opinion. my goodness! and to make matters worse, these other guys had their own opinions too! i mean what, just because you started a post and made a controversial statement, everyones entitled to post their feelings on the matter?? man people these days...i cant speak for them, but let me just say that for my part, im sorry that i replied with an opinion. i am man, i really am!

WHY gram!'S REPLY SHOULD BE A MODEL FOR THE FUTURE :

ok, apperently plenty of people around here like to take full advantage of "cyberspace" but let me tell you, i have called no one any names here, so i expect some respect.

    a) a clear statement of his position---very important
    b) clearly provides a reason for his demand

if any of you little men want to throw around insults at me in public, i would love to meet you. email me and i will gladly let you call me names in person, but i doubt that any of you puss#es would have the sack.

a)in a lightning quick change of tone, he immediately insults the posting population--just after stating that he hadnt insulted anyone. genius, pure genius.
b)he lights a fire inside the audience, and calls them out----we should send this guy to kelvin cato

now, second, langhi can also be grouped with rhodrick roads as a washout. i watch all the rockets games, and i asses that he lacks the strong personality to make it in the nba. he throws up an airball (unlike colson, or moochie when he first got here i might add) and he looks like he is about to cry. he may be physically talented(might), but he needs to have a demeanor that he just does not have. he frequently looks lost, and overmatched.

a)uses a comparison beautifully, and then provides reason for the comparison- wow
b)makes his point (the airball), and then alludes to how it should have been done (colson, moochie)
c)explains what the player in question lacks

i do not even see him as a decent role player, for those same reasons stated before. you gotta have nuts, and i think langhi is lacking. you can argue that "well, he's a rookie, he just needs some confidence", well, i have seen many rookies come into games, and handle their ****. i would rather see t-mo get a chance to back up griff and wiz. that being said. nite

a)provides an outlook into the future of the player in question
    b)refutes other arguements
c)gives opinion on change to be made nice and clearly
d)classy alwayz, ends with a farewell msg

Now isnt that a great post? It made absolutely no sense, but isnt that just a magnificent post? gram!, who would actually give you their number? who would actually come meet you? you know, the end of your post actually wasnt too bad. You put your opinion out there, and thats totally to be respected. But let me ask this, where are you getting all of this from? he doesnt show the demeanor or anything does he? how about we actually test his demeanor and get him some PT before we judge it eh? he frequently looks lost doesnt he? the guy doesnt even frequently play, how the hell can he frequently look lost? man his personality on the court realllly needs work. we should just get rid of him! gram!, how exactly can you judge his personality from his limited playing time? if you actually do have a method, plz do share.

you wanna know what the funniest part of this whole thing is? gram makes a statement not to get insulted, and after that, the insults actually begin pouring out. what irony.....

all players come and go, but kelvin cato will alwayz remain (on tha bench at least)

Perhaps you guys are right - i haven't seen enough of Langhi to comment. I certainly didn't see any of his college career, so I don't know how good a defender he was. From what I remember, the NBA scouting reports described him as a "passable" defender. Apprently a few peoplearound here are intimate with Dan's game at Vandy, so I'll bow to their judgement.

What I CAN comment on is his defense in the NBA. I have seen almost every one Langhi's games in a Rocket's uniform, a lot of them from 10 rows back at the Compaq Center. What I saw was very mediocre defense. My key point is that I don't think Langhi can take advantage of his height, and struggles to guard small forwards.

Whether or not he is a better defender than Walt Williams, remains to be seen - if he gets some more PT we might be able to tell, but up until now, Langhi has proven nothing

If you ask me "does he deserve more playing time"? Absolutely, but at who's expense?

Whoa...someone is getting a bit excited. A bit too much testosterone. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But to judge a young player based on the 33 games he appeared in (avg 7 minutes per game) is a bit premature. Plus with the FA signings the Rockets are expected to make he is a bargain like others mentioned before.

Geesh! If we didn't trash talk each other what kind of milk-toast, puppy love fest would this BBS be. Davo didn't get too mad when I ridiculed his spelling of defense even though the hypcrocy was apparent since I am the worst typist on the board and have edited every one of my posts.
So...lets get to the real underlying source of this Langhi topic, Racism. If Langhi were black he would be getting all the love like he was a young Carlos. But since he is white he is defended as the "next Larry Bird".
He is what he is...a second round (read cheap) pick with some unique physical attributes, some college proven skills that may or may not develop into a seviceable NBA player. Certainly worth an 11th or 12th man spot on the roster (although on Oct 31 I still think he will be listed as the #2 SF on the depth chart, rookies have to learn their job is to defer to the team)

The way I see it, clearing some room at SF is a fairly high priority now, and it must be done if we are going to address the center position. Assuming that Hakeem resigns and MoTay stays, we have Griffin, Morris, Anderson, Langhi, Walt, and Bullard all competing for SF minutes. Obviously, some of these guys are not going to be here next season - we are NOT going to have 6 guys at SF, even if some of them swing to other positions.

I did a little breakdown of some stats by minute (points per minute, rebs per minute, assists per minute, steals per minute, &blocks per minute) to see how productive everyone was last season (Griffin and Morris excepted, of course):

    Walt - .38ppm, .15rpm, .06apm, .02spm, .02bpm
    Shandon - .30ppm, .14rpm, .08apm, .03spm, .02bpm
    Bullard - .35ppm, .13rpm, .04apm, --spm, .02bpm
    Langhi - .37ppm, .16rpm, .01apm, .03spm, --bpm

These guys are all really close statistically in terms of production per minute, which seemed the only fair way to compare Langhi to the others. The only significant standouts are Shandon's low scoring and Langhi's low assist #. Other than that, on paper these guys are all pretty close in terms of relative production.

That would lead me to think in terms of intangibles: defense, ability to play multiple positions, and chemistry w/ teammates (on and off court), among other things. In my mind, Shandon and Bull score highest here - especially Shandon IMO, because of his D and stamina (although his lack of range is a problem). Walt & Bull are strong in chemistry, but that's about it. Langhi is overall weak in the intangibles department from what I can tell.

Then there is cost. Langhi obviously scores highest here, with Walt & Shandon scoring lowest.

Conclusion? Obviously, it depends upon what we want in the SF position, but here are a few opinions I have:

    1) There is no reason Walt should be starting ahead of anyone else. I like the guy, but he is definitely expendable.
2)If scoring is not the main quality we need at SF, then Shandon should be kept. I don't think he'll be starting, tho.
    3) I want Bull to stay, as he is no worse than any of our other SFs, and, well, it's a nostalgia thing...
    4) Langhi displayed no special talent during the regular season. He is also expendable.
    5) Griffin and Morris (EG, in particular) are unknown factors no matter how well they did in college.

    IMHO, of course...

I think if we really had anything resembling a solid frontcourt, we would not have drafted how we did this year. Any of our forwards could go.

You can't fairly compare Langhi's stats by the minute with Bull, Shandon and Walt. Bull, Shandon and Walt all played valuable minutes when the game was still intense and yet to be decided. Langhi mostly played garbage minutes at the end of blowout games. For example the last game of the season, Minnesota. Langhi scored the last bucket of the game on a slam where he took it all the way down the court. Well it's a whole lot easier to take it down the court and slam it vs William Avery and Dean Garrett than when Kevin Garnett and Terrell Brandon are on the court. The bottom line, Langhi scored his points against scrubs. He has not proven anything yet. However, I too believe he could contribute very well next season and should be kept.

    SF3:

Actually, I only put the stats there to show that he's done nothing at all spectacular compared to our other SFs. He may very well have potential, but he didn't show any of it in the minutes he had last season.

    He is expendable IMO.

    this is comedy pure comedy
What a funny response. You had me in tears no kidding. I was dying. . . . . . okay I just woke up from the blackout

I dont understand how you can evaluate Dan on 7 minutes a game. I would look at the games that he played 15 or more minutes in to see how the guy produces on the floor. Not his overall averages.

I think there's a link between the guys dumping Langhi and dumping their monikers.

I'm not doing either until I see a result and I don't care what heypee (crispee now) says. Plus, I gotta get to 1000...

I'm not conceding anything. Langhi has so much more athleticism than Maloney or Drew. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING.

    It's Langhi not Languid.
