I just want to see development of the rookies and the Rockets improve defensively. Even though this is a tanking developmental year, we shouldn't have the worst defense efficiency rating in the league.
One thing all Rockets fans on this board agree on…. Silas is a horrible coach. Play calling. Developing players. Timeouts. Defense. Subs. Etc etc
All true, but the reality is that NFL teams are paying 100,000 per game to coaches to lose. I’m sure the Rockets’ cheap management is extremely happy with Silas right now.
I really like the man, but the defense is enough for me to want him gone. He needs to sell out on improving that side of the ball, because what they are doing now is worthy of ending a career over.
You are GM for a day. Would you trade the Rockets roster for the Spurs roster. Hell no. Yet the Spurs put up 131 on the Rockets. Made Poeltl look like an All-star. Yeah, Pop is a hall of fame coach. He's done, he"s going through the motions. This mess is on the coaching staff. Yes, Silas seems to be a nice guy. My barber is a nice guy, I don't want him anywhere near the Rockets bench.
Poetl is a legit starting center in this league Dejounte is all star adjacent and I believe leads the league in triple doubles Keldon Kills us everytime he plays us And who on this roster shoots better than McDermott?
I actually like Poeltl's game. He, McDermott and Johnson, thrive against Silas' system. My point is, this mess of a Rockets team is on the coaching staff.
I always chuckle when I see the Spurs lately used as the barometer of measure as to how the Rockets are doing things wrong.
That loss to the Spurs was pathetic. SIlas has a variation of the same bad excuse after every game and he looks completely content with the state of the team. Meanwhile you have the Warriors who sat their 5-6 best players and beat and embarrassed that same Spurs team a few days ago. The Warriors' coaching staff is actually developing their rookies Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody and they've shined with their opportunities. No one will take this Rockets team seriously until they axe Silas and losing culture mindset.
Not saying Silas is a good coach, but if my job depended on me guaranteeing the team loses so we maximize our odds of getting a top pick, I would be OK with losing too.
