There have been enough great shooting guards at this height that this shouldn't even be a consideration. It's not like an Iverson situation where he's a 6'0" SG. And Iverson was an MVP anyway.

Wishing to see the ball in Green's hand for the last game shot...but the ball goes into KPJ's hand.

I don’t think he will ever be a good defender because of his slight build and he really isn’t very long. His wingspan is about the same as his height. Most guys like Josh Christopher has a +6, Eric Gordon a +6, Harden a +6…. Green has a +1… the lack of strength or width in his frame is a disadvantage as well. Also his defensive instincts are average…. I think with his work ethic and quickness he can be average if things work out well… he will also likely be carrying a big offensive load which will limit his defense…. Harden, LBJ and Kobe all could be exceptional defenders on particular plays but we’re not great a lot of the time because of the size of their offensive responsibilities.

I think it would depend on his defensive matchup.

I have noticed that Green tends to do quite well against smaller, faster players, because Green has the speed to match up with them, but also the size to cause issues. I've noticed this especially when he guards players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Against players that are more shifty for example and can make good use of their body or size, Green struggles.

At this point in time, Green is probably better off if he was asked to guard PGs instead.

Yeah somebody posted a stat that showed he had averaged over 20 points per game while being 5th on the team in touches over that span of games.

The last game on Friday was a perfect example of this very problem. I like the fact that he is capable of scoring while not being a focal point of an offense because it bodes well for the future if he ends up playing with another ball dominant CORE player, but on this team as currently comprised, there is no way he should be so uninvolved in the offensive scheme and be relegated to PJ Tucker duty as a corner spacer so frequently.

I'm hoping we can somehow get Keels with a second FRP trade-up, like we stole Sengun

He has the perfect Marcus Smart type of linebacker build to make life miserable for opponents primary if he commits to that end

He's already got a way better shot and finishes at the rim much better than Smart did at OK ST

I'm thinking he goes somewhere in picks #10-20

That’s the issue with the Rockets starters.

    They don’t have a PJ tucker…Or Ariza…Or Capela….

Guys that let the playmakers play make and play their role defensively and do their job on offense.

Everybody out there thinks they are a playmaker. Too many chefs in the kitchen.

Somebody should be in the corners…Tate, Wood, KPJ, Gordon…

those guys ain’t gonna do it.

Green is the Rook so he’s relegated to corner duty unfortunately.

Rockets are in no rush to thrust Green into a primary role this season or at least we will need to see how this team looks after the midseason trade deadline.

This wasn’t even a month ago. JG has had some high highs and low lows. Things change fast. KPJ looked like a bum a month ago. Let’s see if he can turn it back around. His defense has been trending up at least. Seems like his offense went in the tank around the same time he started giving better effort on defense. He has to put it all together.

ironic that his defense is far better than I expected, where his offense is definitely less than I expected

The titles of all of these Jalen Green threads make me chuckle. Such high highs and low lows. Raw player is raw.

He's inferring the work, based on watching a ton of tape.

He gets motivated vs Cade and Mobley teams.

Gonna perform in dunk contest to sway voters

Might not be enough; but with Wood and Eric Gordon gone and not
freezing Green out, there is still a slight chance; but I don't mind him not.

Make him hungrier for next year

    coming in second?

He's currently coming in third in the ROY race on his own team.

This is a fantastic drill, used it many times when I used to coach.

I thought every pro uses it.
