IF Captain Hook gets the hook, then (not whom do you want, but) who is in line to succeed the Missing M? Lamont? Cheo? Dirk? Moore or NO's manager? Someone from outside the organization? Would lamont, Jimy's buddy, stay or be canned, too?
It would probably be the bench coach in John Tamargo (seeing that he's been managing games that Jimy was tossed, or suspended for). But, once again... with this team... a change in manager would make NO difference. Then again, it worked for the New Jersey Nets...
This squad certainly seems to need a shake up. Maybe MJ fulfills his baseball dream? Seriously, tho, is their an heir apparent?
They have a manager who's extremely well-liked by the players and front office. There is no "heir apparent" or line of succession. There is, however, a line of speculation. Check sports radio for details.
The only reason I used the Nets as an example was because they were a good team that was playing awful, and it wasn't neccesarily the fault of the coach (Byron Scott). They had veterans, a superstar, and were expected to be one of the best... it was just simply that the players weren't producing. Alas, they fired the coach, put a no-name guy in there, and bang... they started winning games (and everybody will tell you that the players just started to play well, not that the coach had anything to do with it). The Marlins weren't expected to win, didn't have many veterans, and seriously lacked focus as a club... Jack Mckeon brought all that (an example where the manager actually DID make a difference.) The Astros are expected to win, have many veterans, have a solid group focus, care about the game, etc... there's not much a new manager could instill. Then again... change could be change... could be good.
To %$)*@ with speculation. The Astros do have a plan, do they not? Whatever it is it would be nice to see it executed (along with Jimy's managerial career).
Never mind, google has enlightened me. Can't believe I had forgotten he was hired by SF. Bring Dierker back, at least he'll put Biggio in his place.
