Forcing children to wear a mask is child abuse. The Left failed children.

In case you weren't aware, the Biden administration has enacted the most hostile masking rules for children in the entire world.

I was recently on a 16 hour flight to the US with our two small children, 5 and 2 years old.

According to the rules, our 2 year old toddler would have had to wear a mask for 16 hours. Try 16 seconds.

Fortunately, we were on a Middle Eastern airline, not a US one, so they didn't try to enforce it very strictly (although the Biden administration demands that, and US airlines do enforce it religiously, even kicking families with autistic toddlers off flights - inhumane and insane).

Asians have been wearing masks as a norm since around 2002. That includes school-age kids. If you are so concerned about children masking, go ask them. Hint: They have no qualms about masking for covid19.

I'm pretty sure Singapore and some of the other Asian countries have much stricter masking rules.

Overall though I agree that making mandates for young kids should probably lifted that said calling this "child abuse" and blaming it on the "Left" is just more unhelpful partisan exaggeration.

Not only do they need masks on these planes, these kids should be required to have boosters.

CDC was early in supporting masks for kids and I guess they don't want to look bad by going back on those policies. Which is weird because they have reversed course on some issues, but haven't on this one.

I used to also support the masking of kids and said so here (I think) but the situation has changed as more information has come in. Other countries have handled kids better during covid than we have.

Fortunately, personally, I haven't encountered any forced-masking or any school closures for my kids (though we did take them out of daycare). Some areas of the country are worse than others when it comes to this.

Cool.. so doctors in the Covid ward should be maskless too. I mean it's like the holocaust to force someone to block a deadly virus from entering your airways. Why are we just focusing on children. Let's free doctors and nurses too from this abuse.

I sort of get antivaxxers (but not really anymore with the mountain of science we now have) but I'll never understand utter stupidity of anti-maskers. Like have you idiots never been to a hospital before and seen healthcare workers putting these things on their face? Have you never seen pictures in history books from the Flu pandemic? Whats that on the nurses faces??? Have you never been to an airport even pre Covid and seen Asian people wearing something on their faces before because they have experience we obviously lacked with SARS viruses??

Also... you're smile isn't all that great. Nobody needs to see what you Maskholes are hiding under there.

I feel more sorry for the kids left without a parent after they ended up dying in a hospital hooked to a respirator, still in denial that Covid was more than a flu.

My issues with Vinay are that he is clout chasing and deliberately underselling the severity of the pandemic. Between him, Monica Gandhi, and Marty Makary, they have been presenting themselves as a third take on COVID. They’re not selling horse paste or HCQ but they’re doing their best to undersell the pandemic.

Monica was saying how great India had handled the pandemic in January 2021 and said they had reached herd immunity. India went on to have close to 4 million deaths between February and May 2021. Vinay tripled down on how masks suffocate kids from a random, subsequently retracted paper on mask CO2 measurements. Marty says that vaccines aren’t needed if you’re COVID recovered.

    At least they’re not Mercola.

Also why are they all Indians?

Not even Singapore forces children under 6 to wear masks. That should tell you something.

And with Omicron, which we will all get, whether vaxxed or not, and which - like all previous variants, doesn't pose a threat to children - actually, much much less of a threat than e.g. RSV, forcing children to wear masks becomes even less justified.

    https://nypost.com/2021/05/02/the-cdcs-cruel-irrational-guidance-traps-our-kids-in-the-pandemic/

While much of grown-up America moves on, our children are trapped in the forever pandemic.

Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a fresh set of guidelines for summer camps. Like much of the CDC’s guidance, this latest was a bunch of irrational nonsense. (Yes, “experts” can be guilty of that.)

The camp guidance — clearly written by someone who has never attended summer camp and isn’t even mildly aware of what goes on there — suggests kids be separated by 3 feet at all times, and 6 feet when they’re eating.

The CDC maintains that vaccinated adults who work at these camps should continue to be masked — and, of course, kids should wear masks, too.

The people making these absurd calls will be sitting in air-conditioned offices, while your children and their underpaid counselor will be needlessly sweating under their masks playing color war in 90-degree weather. Don’t listen to them.

Also last week, the CDC finally released updated guidance for vaccinated people. The chart showed that vaccinated people — except, apparently, summer camp counselors — can now dine outdoors and gather mask-less in small groups outside.

Thanks, I guess? Most sane people have been doing this for a while.

Last Sunday, national virus guru Dr. Anthony Fauci told CNN, “The risk when you’re outdoors, which we have been saying all along, is extremely low.”

Oh, they’ve been saying it all along, have they? No, of course they haven’t. In fact, Fauci had many times stressed the importance of masking, even outdoors. Who could forget him standing on a pitcher’s mound last spring, 90 feet from the nearest person but still wearing his mask?

That’s why it’s so important to now tune out Fauci and the CDC. Their misinformation and constant flip-flops are causing us societal harm.

Don’t believe it? Last Friday, CDC boss Dr. Rochelle Walensky said the “CDC recommends that pregnant people receive the COVID-19 vaccine.” On Monday, the CDC seemed to walk back her comments, noting the agency’s recommendation remains simply that “pregnant people are eligible and can receive a COVID-19 vaccine.”

If you’re confused, you aren’t alone. The agency moved from saying pregnant women should get the jabs to suggesting they could. And these are our high priests of COVID guidance?

They can’t even tell us whether pregnant women should get the vaccine, but we should dutifully listen to them about masking kids, who are at minuscule risk from the disease and transmit it at a lower rate?

How low is the risk to kids? According to the CDC, 266 kids ages 0 to 17 have died of COVID-19. Every single death is a tragedy. But during the 2018-2019 flu season, 477 kids in that age range died of the regular flu, and we didn’t take to hiding our kids under their beds.

Also in 2019, we lost 2,545 kids under 18 to traffic accidents, 776 to drowning and a devastating 2,156 to suicide. We didn’t stop sending kids to school. We didn’t ban cars or swimming pools. We understood that we live in a world of risk, that we send our children out daily and pray that they make it home.

Will COVID hysterics ever let our children live normal lives?

We need perspective — and fast. We need to stop listening to an organization that has discredited itself.

“The CDC is a science-based organization,” Fauci said recently. “They don’t want to make any guidelines unless they look at the data and the data backs it up.” OK. Show us the data that justify masking kids. No such data exist.

Last week, Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rep. Jason Smith (R-Mo.) sent a letter to the CDC demanding “information on how the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention came to its conclusion that children 2 years and older should wear face masks.” Lee, Smith and 30 other signatories also point out that masking in much of Europe begins around age 11 or 12.

There is absolutely no data to support our masking norm, beginning at age 2. Europeans don’t care about their kids any less than we do.

Let’s return our kids to sanity. Stop masking kids. Do it now.
