I really don't think the author realizes how difficult it is to move a contract of EG's magnitude when most of those contenders he listed just don't have matching salary to send out - $14,575,054. being the minimum outgoing figure and it can't be pieced together without the Rockets clearing a roster spot first which can be done but isn't optimal.

This trade deadline is mathematically complicated in more than one way for Stone.

What about Gordon, Augustine and Tate (would hate to see him go) for Collin Sexton & Rubio’s expiring. He Shoots well, just turned 23, gonna be a restricted free agent so a long term extension makes sense. He’s improved every year if you don’t include his 10 games this year so far. This is a guy that can average 25 points a game. If he can become a better defender he’s going to be a great player.

Despite reports, I can't imagine Theis having value. Augustine on the other hand is very underrated. I would have loved to have him over RIvers a few years ago.

DJ Augustin is getting cut no matter what anyway. An extra roster spot won’t be a problem.

Stone failed if EG isn’t traded by the deadline, period.

Rivers fit better than DJ in Harden years, Rivers was better switch defender and could actually almost take over a game once in a blue moon.

That dude needs a new calculator ... his math is broken.

This is false. the right number is $5,672,500

125%+100k is the max return for any contract for a team over the cap.

    4,458,000 x1.25 = 5,572,500 + 100k = $5,672,500

    This one is wrong too.

To match EG's contract a team must take back a minimum of $14,675,054.40

    Here's the simple math:

    18,218,818 / 1.25 = 14,575,054.4 + 100k = 14,675,054.4

Nwaba is probably in that group of expendable players too ....

Quite possible Augustin gets waived / bought out as he's only guaranteed something like $300k next year.

Quite possible that Augustin is released but by no means is it a certainty ...

As for being a failure if EG isn't moved, it might appear that way but ... are you taking lowball offers? What do you do if a 2nd round pick is your best offer?

I think the vast majority of us would like to come away from the deadline with EG & Wood dealt for as many #1 picks as we can gather but it takes a winning partner.

We don’t need guards. We are loaded at guard and can’t find enough minutes for the one’s we have.

    • While the Cavs have placed calls on wing reinforcements such as Eric Gordon and Caris LeVert, both the Rockets' and Pacers' asking prices have been described as too high for Cleveland. The Cavaliers seem to prefer sending two second-round picks to acquire either player, but the Rockets believe they can get a first-rounder for Gordon, and the Pacers are seeking more than a first-round pick for LeVert.
    • The Pelicans have become repeatedly linked to Rockets guard Eric Gordon.
    • Phoenix has maintained its efforts to move Dario Saric, and it appears the Suns are searching for an upgrade to their wing rotation. Eric Gordon has been linked by league personnel as a possible target, as he and Chris Paul shared a successful stint in Houston. Of note with Gordon here: The veteran guard's contract becomes fully guaranteed for 2023-24 if his team wins the championship and Gordon reaches a minutes requirement.

Lol David Griffin really trying to save his job. I'll gladly take that 2024 1st from the Lakers for Gordon.

Didn’t EG leave N.O. on bad terms?

Wtf are we going to do with two 2nd round picks. Even a mid/late frp is a crap shoot, plus the young player coming in still has to be watered and nurtured, roster spot, and org might not even know if they'll bloom.

These GMs haggling like at the flea market on a Sunday.

The Gordon they're getting most likely has a better true shooting % this season than 4/5 of those team's starters.

Honestly I hope we get a deal done several days before the deadline. Teams know we aren’t trading Gordon for 2nd rounders; the posturing is pointless. This is not Dipo, who was an impending free agent. Gordon is one of the hottest names at the deadline. Get it done; don’t get screwed at the last minute.
