It's ok, he has to learn what doesn't work. Poor showing on offense today but his defense was better than usual. We need Sengun in there to replace Wood to keep the ball moving and find cutters. The primary focus for this kid right now is to develop a Euro Step. He's the perfect candidate for it, needs it badly. I'm not opposed to a 2-3 game benching to make the point that he has made poor choices these past few games. I'm sure he knows he has sucked and the coaches are telling him what to work on, not sure what benefit comes from benching him.
Am a big fan of GM Stone. Better than Morey. But if you had find fault with Stone, it was that he chose Jalen Green. Don't just bench him. Trade him together with John Wall and Daniel Theis.
Agree. His best games came after a prolonged absence. Playing him just makes things worse. He needs to go to G-league to figure stuff out and to get some confidence. This here is not development, it’s regression.
Yeah he's playing terrible, is not currently strong enough and still hasn't quite found his role on the team, but he has skill. What you'd hope to see, and I get this sense with him, is the drive and work ethic to get better. Part of the problem is people today want everything and they want it now. He's not Cunningham and he's not Mobley. Will he be a bust? Way too early to tell. Kobe's rookie year was not that great. He made a lot of poor decisions, but had the green light and the confidence in himself to improve. Best case scenario is he shows some streaks after the trade deadline to unclog the roster. Now if by this time next season he's still looking lost, hasn't put on weight and is making poor basketball IQ decisions, then yeah he'll probably end up being a "bust" in the sense that his career may end up looking more like Joe Smith, Jabari Parker, Evan Turner, Kwame Brown or Andrew Wiggins rather than Kobe -- which is to say he'll be a serviceable role player, but not franchise-leading. Which is still a disappointment. But let's see what he's got in store over the next year. In the meantime let's see if the Rockets can get another top-3 pick and hit a home run to set this team up for sustained greatness over the next few years. __ P.S. It's frustrating, but a different frustration than, say, being a Celtics fan watching a team with a great young player and a very good secondary player not being able to win big. So there's some solace, or at least the reality that it's a tough business and not every team can win.
Man the kid was on the court putting up extra shots after the game. Keep him starting, he knows what he's doing.
Uh oh. Folks are in denial of what he is. Neither bust nor superstar. Another athletic guy who wants to fit in.
People here comparing him to Kobe with his slow start. Know that Kobe came off the bench for 2 years and averaged only 15 mpg in his 1st. Also, JG was expected to be the most NBA-ready of all the rookies considering he was coming from the g-league and that is not my opinion but these were the expert's opinions. Any player or rookie who shoots this badly needs to be benched and reward players/other rookies that are playing better. It is not a punishment but sending a signal that this player simply needs to work much harder on his game and in JG's case, his shooting! Why should Chris and Matthews not get more playing time over JG? Preferential treatment just because he is No.2 pick?!
Jalen is so fast, that his own team can’t set up a play for him, or have time to box out, or time to catch their breath from transitioning from defense. That’s fast!
Normally yes, when a hierarchy has been established, but right now my opinion is that it does not matter. Might just ride it out the last 30 somewhat games.
Never seen a player get bullied as much as I see Jalen trying to drive in the ball. The second he crosses the 3pt line he gets pushed around
If you are a 20 year assistant and only getting the big job now, then odds are you are never amounting to much, all the years just spent on getting to the main job instead of becoming great.
