My picks, based more on what I think will happen (based largely on CHA managment press than anything else):

PAD = Prearranged Deal (with that team or another), usually for $3 million in cash and a draft pick (current or future)
    K = to keep
    italics = maybe

Next year's salary (in millions) followed by remaining years listed

    Boston
    Jumaine Jones (K) $1.7, 2

    Dallas
    Antoine Walker (PAD) $14.6, 1

    Detroit
    Elden Campbell (PAD) $4.4, 1

    Houston
    Eric Piatkowski (K) $2.7, 2

    LA Clippers
    Predrag Drobnjak (PAD) $2.8, 3

    Memphis
    Troy Bell (K) $1.4, 4

    Minnesota
    Ervin Johnson (PAD) $5.0, 1

    Philadelphia
    Aaron McKie (PAD or K) $5.5, 4

    Phoenix
    Jahidi White (PAD) $5.9, 1

    Portland
    Dan Dickau (K) $0.9, 3

    Sacramento
    Gerald Wallace (K) $1.4, 2

    Washington
    Juan Dixon (K) $1.1, 3

Remaining 2 (or more) picks used on assorted RFAs, with no intent and signing them. Honestly, I have a suspicion that they'd pick 5 RFAs if not more, but it depends largely on the draft picks other teams offer to go with the $3 million for picking their player. There's a large number of guys in their final year making about $5 (costing CHA $2) that are also on teams desparate to shave cap space (Detroit, Phoenix, LAC, etc).

As I've picked it, the Bobcats would grab $47.4 in salary (which, btw, they are allowed to do, despite a $33 cap). Antoine Walker is the big mystery though. If you forget about him and go with a RFA, you're under the $33 mark. If Phoenix uses ATL or UTA to move Jahdi White instead of CHA, they grab another RFA and go down to $27. That keeps them under the cap, even after signing their top pick in the draft.

First order of business will be the deals Bobs orchestrate by selecting, or not, players for trades, considerations etc.

Since big men are at a premium & the East is short on big men, I'm taking a lesson from Detroit's success & taking several big men. Lorenzen Wright & Ervin Johnson should draw some interest from a couple of center starved teams & should net me an extra pick or two. I'd only draft them, if I have a prearranged trade in place. Houston might be interested in trading for Ward.

With the 4th pick in the draft, I'd take Okafor, Howard, Deng, or (more likely) the best PG available. Pending any FA acquisitions, my starting lineup might look like this next year:

    C: Drobnjak/Stepania/Brezec/Woods
    PF: Skinner/Fizer/Baxter
    SF: Jones/Wallace/ acquired Draft pick?
    SG: Stevenson/Wallace/Piatkowski/Frahm
    PG: FA/Draft pick

If I assume that Stepania is only making $1.1 million, that gives me a total of $17,228,286 tied up in 12 signed contracts. This doesn't count draft picks or FA acquisitions. Even with the 4th pick costing $3-4 million, I'd still have plenty of cap space to pursue FA's or be a 3rd party in trades.

Some of you all have the Bobcats taking more than 1 player from a team. That is prohibited in the expansion draft rules.

The Pistons and Lakers only recently had to submit their lists; the initial deadline came during the finals, from which they were (obviously) exempt. The Pistons were projected to submit Elden Campbell, with the Lakers projected to throw out players like Rick Fox and Jamal Sampson.

I would guess the only marquee semi-big names they pick up is Stackhouse from Washington & Fizer from Chicago. Above and beyond that look at the guys wil less than $2M, short term contracts.

The one thing that is always interesting is side deals that are cut. Houston could always get involved in Ollie without going thru Cleveland. We tell the bobcats take Ollie and we'll send you a second round pick in 2005 (or some other player we don't want but they covet). Other teams may be deperate enough to dump a salary (like a Penny Hardaway) where the Knicks may offer to give the Bobcats something to take him (you take him and we'll give you a 1st round pick in 2005 for future considerations).

So I'd guess the Bobcats don't end up with many well known players but they may end up with additional draft picks for picking/trading the guys ont eh list.

I think you are misunderstanding the E-draft rules. CHA can take whomever they want and as long as that player's current team has Bird Rights the Bobcat's can sign them to a contract regardless of their $30m cap limitation.
