There’s a reason the Rockets wanted Cade and were trying to trade up once Detroit secured the #1. I think Jalen was a distant 2nd choice, and that’s partially because neither Mobley nor Suggs came in to workout (I can’t remember if Barnes did). Jalen needs to go down to the RGV and learn to play basketball. Right now he’s a total negative on the floor and making everyone around him worse due to the defensive lapses. Also, if the Rockets could package him with Wood to get a pick and legit young player, they should do it. Maybe he’ll develop down the road, but right now his combination of size and one dimensional play reminds me the most of Eddie House. If we drafted Eddie House at the #2 spot, then we royally ****ed up.
In other news Jalen Suggs has even started tearing it up after starting the year slow, it truly was a deep draft!

The kind of mistake that NEEDS to get people fired. We know that the analytics department wanted Mobley, so whoever was on the otherside, heads need to roll.
I don't think Jalen will ever be worth the #2 draft pick, it is looking like he is likely going to be a bust. He has had plenty of opportunity to develop this year, and there is not really any improvement or signs of consistency. AE and Lamelo you could see flashes and maturity in their rookie years, just have not seen signs of it on the court or in what he is saying either. Cade and Mobley look worth the pick as well. I really hate to say it, I am not a fan of building a losing culture, but considering we are halfway through the season already, it may be time to bring out the tanks and get what we can for EG, Wood , and others.
In fairness, even for the Rockets the draft is looking pretty good. 2 of our 3 19 year old rookies in the game looked pretty decent all things considered.
