Rockets In: Russell Westbrook, Kai Jones and Lakers 2027 1st Round Swap (top 2 protected)

Lakers In: John Wall and Kelly Oubre

Hornets In: Eric Gordon, THT and Nunn

Rockets buy out Westbrook and get a young asset with Jones plus a swap.

Lakers rid of the Westbrook distraction, pick up Westbrook replacement in Wall and gets younger Kelly Oubre. Instead of just a Wall and Westbrook swap, they also get a good 3 point shooter (38%) in Oubre.

Hornets swap out Oubre with a more reliable and experienced Gordon for their playoff run.

Anyone have a trade to acquire Jalen Johnson from Hawks?

Need more 6'9+ skilled players on Rockets.

Yeah, Olynyk is a great fit next to Wood .... but like I said elsewhere, having Wood doesn't solve the issue of having a stretch 4 or 5 because he thinks he's a wing (position-less?) .... so naturally having a stretch big like Olynyk is a very good fit.
Someone has to do the dirty work on the defensive end.

Wood is actually better switch defender and rim protector than Olynyk.

I like all that Grant has to offer on the court, but dudes who think they're so much better than they actually are can stay away. This tweet isn't the only reason I feel this about Grant, either.

The next work stoppage in the NBA will be players demanding to get traded to the Lakers at will.

Houston In: Russell Westbrook, Cam Thomas, 2027 LAL 1st and 2028 BRK 1st Rounder

Brooklyn In: Christian Wood and Eric Gordon

    Lakers In: Kyrie Irving

Houston picks up more rebuild pieces
Brooklyn loads up to make a deep playoff run and convince Harden to stay
Lakers swap out Irving with Westbrook (better than John Wall)

Why not re-route Westbrook to BRK?

    Could also try...
    HOU: Fox
BRK: Westbrook (reunite Harden - Durant - Westbrook)
    LAL: Wall
    SAC: Irving + LAL FRP

Irving is virtually untraceable to the west or east coast because of his vax status.

LOL... I was just trying to get Swipa to Htown... but yeah... very hard to find a place to send Kyrie.

HOU: Turner (IND) + Lamb (IND) bought out
    BRK: Westbrook (LAL)
    LAL: Wall (HOU)
    DAL: Irving (BRK)
IND: Porzingis (DAL) + LAL FRP + 2023 FRP (from HOU via BRK or MIL)

Houston In: Ivan Zubac, Serge Ibaka, Eric Bledsoe, 2027 LAC 1st Swap and 2028 LAC 1st Rounder

LAC In: Eric Gordon and Christian Wood

Rockets get a young big, buyout Ibaka and take on one less year with Bledsoe's contract for potentially two good picks.

LAC owe their future picks to OKC, so they need to win. Not only do they get help to win this year, but next year when healthy, they look really scary. Wood, Gordon, PG13 and Kawhi. I'm a fan of Zubac.

From Rockets writer Salman Ali (@SalmanAliNBA)

    https://clutchpoints.com/4-best-possible-trades-the-rockets-can-make-at-the-nba-trade-deadline/

    1. Christian Wood to the Grizzlies

Houston receives: Steven Adams, 2022 Grizzlies first round pick, 2022 Jazz first round pick
    Memphis receives: Christian Wood

Every trade in this article assumes every asset is moved at true market value, including Christian Wood. It’s possible that many have soured on Wood after episodes this season that have called into question character concerns that have long existed with him. Wood in Memphis running a two-man game with Ja Morant is a dream fit on paper, however. The Grizzlies are right on the edge of true contendership, currently sitting at the third seed in the Western Conference. This trade retains most of their future trade assets and gives them significantly more juice on offense. You could swap out one of the firsts for a 2023 second round pick if you really believe Wood’s value is in the tank.

    2. Eric Gordon to the Bulls

Houston receives: 2022 Bulls first round pick, Derrick Jones Jr., Troy Brown Jr.
    Chicago receives: Eric Gordon

    3. Christian Wood to the Hornets

Houston receives: Mason Plumlee, James Bouknight
    Charlotte receives: Christian Wood

The Charlotte Hornets are one of the few playoff teams in the NBA with a legitimate need at center and Christian Wood is a strong upgrade over Mason Plumlee. The problem with constructing deals with the Hornets is they owe a heavily protected pick to Atlanta this year which prevents them from trading first rounders until 2027 (via the Stepien rule). James Bouknight is a strong enough asset that he accounts for the weight of two first rounders. The question this front office has to ask themselves is are they willing to go into buyer mode. The Grizzlies are so good that they’ve gotten that question answered for them, but the Hornets are the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. It’s tough, but Wood is both young enough to fall into LaMelo Ball’s timeline and good enough to be included in that core.

    4. Eric Gordon to the Cavaliers

Houston receives: Ricky Rubio, 2022 Cavaliers first round pick
    Cleveland receives: Eric Gordon

Why the hell does Memphis need Wood when they have JJJ? Especially at the expense of trading away Steven Adams, their best defender, AND 1st rounders? I like Salman's writings and tweets but this one is a bit wonky.

This is pretty good, but IND can get more for Turner. I don’t think a re-building team wants Porzingis bad contract. It will take a really attractive pick be added. I would be willing to add 2023 top 5 protected from Hou to get Turner.

Dragic, Boucher, Achiuwa for Gordon, Wood and Brooks. I believe this opens up cap space for us in summer 2022 (can absorb a contract for a pick) and I can easily see us flipping Dragic before the deadline to a contender for two second round picks. Boucher and Achiuwa are good projects.

Really hope both Wood and Gordon are gone post deadline.
