    Capela plays defense
Wood is awful on defense and can actually cause stagnation on offense with his lack of aggression and inability to set a peak. Capella is an excellent defender, sets great picks and rolls hard to the rim. He is a true center. Wood is a SF in a center’s body. I think GM’s would take Capella over Wood if they need defense and Wood if they want another outside threat.

Plus Capela recognizes and embraces his role, a team-first attitude that Wood seems incapable of understanding

Every time I look at the Wizards roster, I come to the idea of Harrell, Hachimura & a lotto protected #1 for Wood.

They are probably pretty desperate to add talent to keep Beal from demanding his way out and that seems like a decent return.

Thing is before you do that deal you have to free up a roster spot. The Rockets can't take back more players than they send out without doing so.

As for the idea of big game hunting, which I'm all for, who's available that's got that franchise player potential?

I'm not seeing "that guy" out there to be had at least for the moment. I don't care for Simmons or Fox. Who am I missing?

    Zion, and that's about it.

I'd be more than happy to make a run at him, even if we trade away Green and KPJ for it. We'd just need to sow his mouth shut for a few weeks.

Not so sure I'd pony up the assets to get Zion - Three reasons.

    One he's always overweight.

Two he's always injured and it's the kind of injuries that kill a big man's career - his feet.

Three he's made it clear he wants to play for the Knicks. Unless you are getting him at a rental discount, I don't think you can commit the requisite assets only to watch him run off to NYK.

Good points. Then let’s facilitate a trade to NY for picks. Never mind they don’t need us to make a trade, unless we are giving up picks. Doubt we could get in on it.

Yeah, not sure who gets cleared out. The guys I think we most easily depart with are Theis, Nwaba, and Augustin, and i wouldn't be surprised to see one of them packaged with Gordon.

In terms of big game hunting, it really depends. Morey recently said a lot of teams are frustrated. As the deadline hits, that list will grow. Injuries, underperforming, etc. Really a question of who becomes available, or may be available but hasn't been reported so yet.

Have 0 interest in Bertans or KCP and the money/open roster spots don't work for anyone other than Trez who I think has fit in pretty well there. Bryant, for me, was more salary match than anything though so if they would rather trade Harrell I'd be ok.

AJ Griffin was my preseason target for the Rockets. Once he got injured again I kind of lost interest given his history but he definitely is back in my the forefront of my drantnik mind now. Jabari-Griffin or Paolo-Griffin would look awfully nice. I'm also really liking Tari Eason as a Patrick Williams type. I think the Rockets could be off the tank if they could get some of these forwards to pair with their young guards and Sengun/Garuba at center.

C.Wood already had a bad rep around the league with his previous attitude issues but he basically tanked it after the last outburst.

I doubt he gets moved at the deadline.

How about this? Celtics need some bench help and have a TE they can use to absorb Harrell's contract. Wizards get a player they can definitely use to play off Beal. Two FRPs are a big price to pay for Wood though. I was trying to think of other teams that can absorb Harrell's contract.

This would be an incredible trade. Hope Wizards are listening.

Warriors Have No Plans To Add Center

The trade deadline is only a few weeks away. Is it time for the Warriors to go searching for center help?

No, sources insist, the front office doesn’t have any current plans to add outside help to shore up the center spot in the immediate. Marc Gasol has hinted at a possible NBA return in the coming months. Paul Millsap, whom the Warriors discussed adding this summer, is in search of another team. But don’t expect a shake-up.

The reasoning is layered. It begins with the 15 players the Warriors currently have on the roster, all locked into guaranteed deals the rest of the season since the non-guarantee deadline has passed. They are hesitant to add to the tax bill, value continuity and don’t intend to sacrifice wing depth to shore up what they believe is a short-term problem.

Wonder who Miami is offering? Issue is it is tough to make salaries match here. Maybe they send us Duncan Robinson, but I don't see how he'd fit into our rebuild. There is the possibility of Herro, Yurtseven, and then some more, but that's too many pieces and I can't see that happening with a FRP, which is what we really want.

man hell no to Duncan Robinson. Herro is only dealt for Morant according to Pat Riley.

Agree, the only one that kinda match Wood is Duncan. I doubt he's offering Herro.

Unless Riley combines all his cheap contract, which most Rockets do not want and gives us a Yurtseven and a pick, I don't know, maybe? But all those players coming in and one person going out (Wood), Rockets wouldn't have enough roster spots. If they are serious, then I guess it's Duncan.

    Heat's salary:

    Butler $36 mil
    Bam $28 mil
    Lowry $26 mil
    ---
    Duncan $15 mil
    PJ $7 mil
    Herro $4 mil
    ---
The rest of guys are all under $3 mil
    Okpala
    Haslem
    Morris
    Dedmon
    Dipo
    Vincent
    Yurtseven
    Silva

Duncan Robinson doesn’t fit our timeline at all; he’s gonna be 28 soon. I don’t think Miami has the picks we want either. I agree with the poster who said this rumor is being floated for leverage.
