If Kobe decides to Opt out of LA. Do the Rockets have a chance to pick him up? Im sure it would put us way over the salary cap, but is there a way around it to get him? Just curious....Whats everyones opinion on this?

Rox currently is over the cap which means they cannot even offer Kobe 1 cent per year contract. The only way they can get Kobe is to have Kobe and the Lakers to agree on a sign and trade deal.

Well, not quite true. We could offer a 6-year contract starting at $5 million. And -- after Kobe stops laughing -- we could start working on a sign-and-trade similar to what we're talking about for T-Mac.

Oh, I did not really mean 1 cent. I was just just trying to make a point. Kobe is offerred a 140 million 7 year deal now from the Lakers. Any other teams that want to sign Kobe can offer a maximum 93million 6 year contract. Based on Kobe's current financial situation, BBall is probably his only financial resource. It is hard to imagine him giving up 50 millions.

I know I'd take Kobe over McGrady anyday. With the expanded revenue because of the marketing in China that the Rockets can capitalize on, I think it'd be beautiful to lure Kobe here.

He's going to be asking "Shaq and KG money". Might as well give up the whole team for his "jailbait" a$$.

Kobe? (If he gets out of jail free card) Absolutely.

In a Sign n Trade anything is possible. Now, JVG and Kobe peacefully coexisting? That may not be possible.

Think this way -- Rudy gets lakes job. Kobe demands / commands a Sign n Trade. Rudy wants Stevie back. Cat, too.

    SF + CM = Kobe?

McGrady. Kobi's more selfish than SF & Cat ever dreamed of being combined.

Ahem. McGrady was only selfish ONE year, his latest one. In a team with low grade talent. He was made to focus all his energy into scoring points, because no one else could.

Kobe has been selfish most of his career, on a team that included the most dominant center in the league.

    Notice the difference?

Kobe has Rings, McGrady doesnt, I think McGrady has more desire in winning a championship than Kobe. Plus Kobe has a trial he's dealing with that will decide his future. Lets bring in Tmac.
