Yes and no. That’s not a very good roster: Jingles, Bogi, Clarkson are all pretty bad defenders. Conley and Mitchell not much better. They consistently overachieve in the reg season and come back to earth in the playoffs. Where I disagree is that Gobert makes much difference. He’s a good help defender around the rim, but if a team decides to gameplan and expose him as the Clippers did, he’s quite useless. Once you make him go out on the perimeter he gets cooked on a regular basis, nothing special. And then he’s a complete clutz on offense. they tried to reverse the tables on Cle and play small-ball, but players like J. Allen and especially Mobley are much better both defensively and offensively than Gobert, because they don’t get cooked by smaller players as easily. Utah gets blown at home. Small ball wins only against lumbering unskilled bigs like Gobert.
