Why not? Because you said so? Because you think there is so magical lineup combination that either Silas is too stupid to see or won't see because of nefarious tanking forces? OKC was dead last in rating. You are either misremembering last years OKC team or being dishonest because they were very bad and getting blown out. The one game you have brought up against the Rockets doesn't mean anything,
1) yes .. but that also means we “move on from harden era” faster . We took the picks and didn’t take back a guy like Simmons or KAT .. we got flexibility faster 2) sure . I’m ok with being bad this year . I don’t think we are intentionally tanking much . Hard to say how many wins Wall would have added . We will move on from him too next year , one way or another .. I just don’t want that to be the mindset going into next year . 3) sure . But earning your minutes and having a culture of trying to improve can be established from the get go . ... bleeding into 4) agreed . Wood and KPJ’s attitude has been a big problem for us . Their inconsistent play too . Especially on woods part . lemme ask your this . Would you like to see urgency in moving wood ? Do you think he is a problem that should get taken care of sooner , or would you rather go into next year hoping he can turn it around too ? I think stone has this problem . A) move wood at this deadline and get a lesser return B) move wood in offseason / next year and get a better possible return and the underlying factor is wood detracts from team chemistry.... frankly neither of us know how much Silas’ decision making process is dictated by the FO either . ultimately you are right that it’s easier to be worried than to lie back and be confident in the front office / coaching staff . However , the longer we stay bad the more reason you have to doubt .
IDK.... I think many GARMers are getting a reality check about how far we are from competing so they are getting defensive while others really never accepted rebuilding. The issue is we need to rebuild and the nature of that is losing.... and it's hard to make losing fun for the fans or players. But it's just the reality.
I don't agree with this because there's has never been any time in NBA history where coaches and players are told they are trying to lose. Even during the most obvious tanking effort with the 76ers, Hinkie didn't tell them to lose. Hinkie merely traded every older asset they have for picks, and what's left on the roster was just bad. I also think mindset and culture is literally not important when you are a bottomed out team in the NBA. Because most of the players now won't be here at the end of it all. Who still plays for the 76ers that was still on those terrible teams, everyone's gone, including many of their failed draft picks. NBA is a pure talent driven league, if you get superstars you will win games. I don't think the Kings or the Wolves are bad because of "culture", they are bad because they have been terrible at assembling talent. If the Kings had drafted Luka instead of Bagley, they would be in the playoffs. If the Timberwolves had drafted Steph Curry instead of Flynn they also would have been in a different position now. the Suns were losing record games for a while, until they assembled a team of talented young players + Chris Paul.
ehhh disagree schedule is a bumpy road , guys are in and out , SOS changes ... and still we aren’t at the halfway point yet . Sure we’ve been playing crap D the last 5-10 ... ok with a good team , they could also have bad stretches , but their offense would bail them out to grab some wins . Our D was good early on despite O being trash . Part of that was the season was new , but we were also playing a double big lineup. Tate has gotten a bigger offensive role too so he’s less focused than before . Theis was playing . If we ran out Gordon / jc / Tate / nwaba / theis we’d prolly be OK , but that unit can’t score lol . We don’t have enough 2-way players . Alpi is promising , but he could use a lot more seasoning . Kpj also very good at times , but erratic . Tate solid . JC interesting , very interesting. Theis solid . Gordon too . Getting some rim protection would be nice . teams watch film and learn your weaknesses. We have some glaring ones.
The last few games have been some of Green's worst. Just bad positioning defensively. Offensively I cant complain. The guy is probably more talented offensively than the rest of the team combined (Sengun existing is the only reason it'd be close) but I'm hoping he's getting reamed for defensive lapses. A successful future with him is unrealistic if he can't become a semblance of a decent two way player. Had enough of that already with Jimbo.
Except our cap situation which had 1 year plus a player option remaining on the worst contract in the league for a player. I just don't think What mindset exactly? Rebuilding? Rebuilding does involve losing, but it should also involve growth and development over time. I think this is a dilemma. My urgency for Wood is for him to be moved by the off season, which is a gamble itself. Maybe mid season is the best time to move him..... but maybe Ayton kills it in the playoffs and PHX is thinking about maxing Ayton and moving Bridges.... or Jaylen Green tells Boston he is done after another disappointing season.... so maybe the best time to move Wood is during the offseason? Tying this back to the thread title.... the Jalen Green experience has been pretty disappointing with flashes of deserved optimism. Maybe Green is more top 10, instead of top 3..... but we may not know that until 2025 or maybe it becomes clear he's top 3 after next season. At this point.... there's too many unknowns about the future. I think rebuilding with an eye towards being predatory is the most optimal path.
sorry buddy but sengun is more talented than him BOTH offensively and defensively AND ITS NOT EVEN CLOSE except if by talent you mean ceiling, possibilities and other subjective future projections of ones imagination Spoiler TAKE THAT FOR DATA
Yeah I dunno on this one. I expect us to lose, but there are different ways to lose a game. We have majority rookies, sophomores and reject players on our team - we're going to lose the majority of everything regardless - that's not the issue. The issue is the WAY we lose. Here are 2 completely different scenarios (one of which is how we're currently playing) which are both losing the majority of the games but both tell VERY different stories: 1. Team hustles hard, plays a structured offense with schemes and plays designed to develop our youngsters and get everybody some touches whilst learning the fundamentals of the NBA game. We get beat 9 out of every 10 games through lack of experience, lack of talented vets and unproven draftees who may not even really pan out to be good enough in the NBA. Along the way we learn how to properly play defensive schemes, and maybe we win a couple. The team plays with pride in defeat, learns to play hard, work hard and fight even when there's no chance of success. 2. Team doesn't play team ball, is lackadaisical, greedy and selfish. There's no offensive schemes or structure, there's no defensive strategies or structure. We rely on improvisation from people who haven't even got a firm grasp on the fundamentals. We get absolutely abused 9/10, hang our heads, don't get back on D, have behavioural issues. Coach smiles and laughs on the sidelines whilst all this is going on and makes pathetic excuses as to why they aren't doing anything about the lack of effort or progression. Players get disheartened and belligerent, some might even quit during games. Nobody gets developed properly as players play for themselves and try and pad their stats, simple fundamentals like boxing out and setting screens are non-existent. Big men DELIBERATELY switch their man onto smaller defenders and create the mismatch for the opposition without them even having to try. We consistently let teams score 70 points against us by half time. Everybody runs around like a headless chicken. Kids playing at half time look like they have better offensive schemes than we do. We lose a lot, and badly, with no heart, no hustle and absolutely no pride. If you can't see the difference between these two scenarios and understand why people who ALREADY EXPECT US TO LOSE EVERY GAME are still pissed off, then I really don't know what to tell you. tl;dr: Trying to simplify it as "people are expecting us to be winners and aren't ready for the rebuild" is ****ing r****ded as ****.
couldnt be farther from the truth.... silas literally had to bench sengun to avoid beating the ruling NBA champs and has to play him low minutes and return back to thesis lineup to prevent us from competing... WE ARE ALREADY READY... the reality you talk about is just a delusion in your mind....silas smiling doesn't mean hes not a devil... hitler was a very charming man himself by all accounts.... the reality for the warriors last season was no playoffs... now the reality for them is the prime contenders even tho its mainly the same roster....
Remember when Luka looked bad because DSJ and DeAndre would marginalise his role? Silas must remember because he is doing the same with KPJ and Wood to Green
sengun is 19, he is not good enough to change the game result. with the player we have now, it's just hard to win now.
Yes you could take them to war and that war would be to get in the playoff game or for 6th seed with a chance to get into the 2nd round. Why are you happy to go to war with that? Are you happy being Orlando the last 6 or 7 years?
