Here's something that I always suspected but looks like it has been proven now: Terry Stotts was NOT the problem in Portland. Would be a good choice IMO.
Stotts is infinitely better than Silas. May be too pricey for Tilman though. We're all in agreement that Silas has to go within the next couple of years, yes? If we can't win, he can at least light a fire in them to compete..but this fool can't even do that. He has assistant coach written all over him. Front offices knew were they were doing by not hiring him. Sucks the Rockets had to learn the hard way.
Why in the press conference before yesterday's game did he mention holding players to under 30mins Our players are super young. Why does it matter? We're are not the lakers with older players saving energy for playoffs He seems to not process basic decisions correctly
It was never going to work. The Rockets starting lineup consists of a 21 year old pg with less than 82 games played going into the season and a history of behavioral problems. A 19 year old rookie SG. A 25 year old second year NBA player. A 26 year old journeyman with a history of issues and not a ton of minutes under his belt. And Eric Gordon. On the bench you play 2 other 19 year old rookies, a 20 year old second year player, a guy that joined the team mid season, and random veterans. Young teams don't win in the NBA and the Rockets play a ton of young guys. They really only have one reliable experienced player and that is Eric Gordon. It's hard/impossible to put a team on the court that is going to consistently play well with the Rockets group. Maybe Silas is a bad coach but even good coaches would look bad in this situation.
you think so? He could instead work with his son and daughter for the next 5 years, compete for championships, then retire. That seems like an ideal situation.
if silas didnt bench and treated alpi so terribly your excuses may even have some merit we dont even need a good coach just someone normal and not dumb enough to bench the best player, give him low minutes, break the winning streak intentionally and reinsert thesis into lineup after admitting he was the reason we were ona 14-0 losing streak before that.... we were winning and we had our wings spread then silas decides he wants more thesis and less alpi lolololol 80% of success is mental... silas broke his own team....and pulled the rugg from under them
Im sorry what's lazy is to look at us play and say its just the players. We have talent so to be this bad is on coaching. Im not saying we should be a playoff team but to be blown out every game is on coaching. The team has no idea how to play team defense, they still dont know how to properly switch on defense and where to direct traffic THATS COACHING. The team does not play organized offense well they over rely on 1v1 on a team without a star player THATS COACHING. Players arent being put in the best positions to be successful like not running the offense through Sengun when he can clearly pass well or recognizing that KPJ is turnover prone and getting the ball out of his hands, Jalen Green standing in the ****ing corners etc. I can go on and on about how awful this coahcing staff is at that SO YEAH THATS COACHING. The rotations are awful and minutes erratic THATS COACHING. They dont play hard THATS COACHING. Silas needs players to be dropped from the team to keep him from hurting himself. HE OVERPLAYS VETS IN A REBUILDING YEAR. He doesnt know when to play zone or man. The other day he decided to run zone against a red hot shooting Dallas team which is, if you know anything about basketball, is idiotic. So to see that and say its not his fault YOURE LAZY. Dont assume because you dont understand what a coaches job is that us blaming him is just lazy. Maybe learn more about basketball and come back to this subject. His rotations are god awful and ive been saying that since day 1. We should have never had him as a coach. You see teams around the league missing players stars and running gleague teams but somehow manage not to get blown out every night. He is not a good coach and deserves some of the blame for this team. I hope he's gone this offseason.
Because he's a ****ing idiot. He is doing things he saw others coaches do but he didnt understand the reason behind those decisions.
Theis didn't even play in the game that ended the streak and Sengun's minutes actually increased after the streak was over. Sengun is averaging 18 minutes a game which is not crazy for a rookie big man. Sengun himself even said that it's based on his body adjusting to the league. The streak was more about playing bad teams at home more than anything else. 4 wins against the Thunder/Magic/Pelicans and a win against the Nets bench squad. Young teams don't win and Sengun wouldn't change that. The Rockets are 2-12 in the 14 games he's played 20+ minutes.
I'm listening to some post-game interviews with Silas after bad losses and anytime he's pressed or asked a tough question, he defaults to "we're a young group, we're learning". I never hear or learn anything new from hearing him talk. This must be what the players hear..in one ear and out the other. C-Wood, KPJ, Armoni Brooks all look worst than they did near the end of the last season. This team as a whole is worst. Where is the progress?
My post didn't miss that point. Sengun is playing 18 minutes a game which is a decent amount for a rookie big man and was averaging 21 minutes a game in the 10 games before his injury.
This is probably the most troubling thing about Silas is that everything seems to be getting worse. Wood and KPJ from last year to this year, and also just the team in general from the start of the season to now just doesn’t seems to be improving.
They were stiffled at the beginning of the season. You guys calling the fact that they are able to play like themselves after Silas finally decided to take Theis out of the lineup "progress" is maddening. Silas had tohave his job threatened in order to do that BTW.
15 games. Theis was a regular starter for 15 games to start the season after they signed him to be a veteran starter and trained and practiced with him as the starter. It is impatience and exaggeration at their best to act like some huge harm was done to the rookies as a result.
