Hollins is not the play by play guy, so he’s in a different role than Bill.

Is Hollins getting paid by the Rockets organisation?
Just checking if he's eligible to play for us this season.

But to be fair, I gave him **** at the beginning of the season and now I've grown to tolerate him.

You’re saying other teams have better players than the Rockets right now!?!

He’s improved a lot. You can tell he reviews his work.

Correction: Hollins has somewhat adequately filled the not-that-large shoes Matt Bullard left behind. Ackerman is the one attempting to fill Worrell's shoes. And Hollins isn't that great -- he talks WAY too much, usually starting the second Ackerman stops, and without really knowing in advance exactly what he wants to say. Consequently, he enthusiastically bounces all over the place until he runs out of steam. His enthusiasm is admirable, though, even it it's artificially generated. He's got potential to be pretty good once he settles down and stops trying to fill up every last second of silence.

Also: Thank GOD he's not into puns. Bullard was a walking dad joke.

I agree with everything but it's important to note that Hollins didn't replace Worrell. Craig did. Hollins replaced Bullard.

A few observations on Ryan Hollins

    1) He's played with every NBA player and played under every coach in the history of the game

    2) Maybe it's my imagination but I occasionally notice some friction between him and Craig Ackerman with Hollins being the calmer one in the exchange. I feel at times Craig even tests him with specific local references which is a trap for an outsider like Hollins

    3) Like other have said he's enthusiastic (more so than some members of the forum). I'll give him respect there because he could easily be punching out and not give AF.

I've been pleasantly surprised. He's not the best but I think he's really good for what this team is right now.

His more recent NBA experience makes him more enjoyable to listen to than Bull and Clyde. He's more familiar with the plays and players. It's like the difference between watching Candace Parker and D Wade on TNT instead of Chuck/Shaq. Sure they're not as goofy but they just understand the current game more.

Him being a more recent journeyman gives him an advantage.

I would care more about a former rocket as the color guy if we were a championship contender. Since that would be some years from it would be great if it was a guy like PJ Tucker or Beverley. A role player that always had something to say.

Craig has a sense of humor other than FT defense?

He is a hype guy, and right now we are a bad product.

I suspect after he calls a few of our good years, fans will enjoy his commentary.

He is new to it as well, so I am sure he will get better. I definitely like him more than bull.

Obviously we should strive for JVG, but he is too expensive.

Exactly. Worrell did the play-by-play. Hollins is trying to fill the shoes of Bullard.

Ackerman is no Worrell and Hollins is nothing special.

Not like knee slapping jokes, but he attempts to have a bit of back and fourth with Hollins
and it always goes over his head, it feels awkward.

Agree he's been better than expected but no way he's filled anybody's shoes yet. Also, Worrell's successor is Craig

Still, I think he's been not bad. Pretty consistent in his optimism and pretty fair analysis. Genuine fan of basketball and pretty good insight from his playing days
