His averages, as are Green’s, are skued by the ignorant Wood/Theis line-up. Take those games out and it’s still not great, but is still worthy of a chance to prove it over the rest of the year. I believe the KPJ/Green backcourt is going to be special by next year.

@Reeko you keep saying this kid sucked as an SF in Cleveland, but my thoughts are that he would probably be suited better in that role if we actually had a PG on this team (I suppose we can ask Wall to earn his paycheck). Are the stats that bad which is why you just think this kid sucks ass?

I think he was decent for a rookie in Cleveland…KPJr at any position that isn’t PG or primary ball handler would be better for him

rookie year u can be given a pass, but since he’s been in Houston, and especially this season, he has been atrocious beyond belief

If we do draft Ivey, who's truly outstanding, with great defense, can both pass and score, and would be a perfect fit playing next to Green, then KPJ will for sure have to find a different role with the Rockets (he should regardless, in my opinion), or with another team.

Well said. Sums up my issues with KPJ as our point guard. The kid simply doesn't fit the role, in my opinion. We should quit trying to make him what he's not. Porter really has talent. Use it in a better way. He's gotten noticeably better on defense, and I think his offense would improve if he wasn't trying to run it. Play him as a wing, call him a 3, whatever, but put him in situations where he can excel.

Good show with Jackson Gatlin and Chris Mannix about benching John Wall for KPJs development. I'm sorry, but I agree with Mannix. KPJ should've been made to compete against John Wall for the starting PG instead of just handing him the job. I do hope that KPJ improves and becomes a good PG, but benching John Wall makes no sense to me.

What's really confusing is the people riding for KPJ were the most vocal haters of James Harden. I feel like this is a massive prank. its' really strange

What about the people who just dont like to jump to conclusions? Idk...I'd just like to give him some more time. Everyone thinks they have young players figured out after a certain number of games.

Give up on KPJ as a PG not his talent.

Should I give up on Silas as a head coach too?

If Rox acquire a PG of any way, without attempting to get KPJ accustomed to coming off the bench, there will be combustion... Rockets playing a dangerous game

You can give up on Silas if you want. He hasn't done anything so amazing that I'm riding for him.

Prioritizing KPJ's development over Sengun and Jalen is pretty dumb, IMO.

If you ask me, that's what he doesn't do enough of (attacking / pressuring the rim), particularly early in the shot clock.

Even back in my highschool days 5 decades ago we were taught to "take a tour thru the lane" early in the possession just to put some pressure on the defense, maybe get guys out of position or some reaction that created an opening, even if it results in yoyoing it back out top and resetting.
CP3 does it all the time .... Stockton did it almost every time down the court and for both it led to consistent easy buckets, either for themselves or their big man.

I guess it doesn't help that KPJ plays with a selfish twig that won't set a hard pick and can't catch a bounce / pocket pass. This whole situation reminds me of Harden / Howard all over again with a hardheaded big man wanting to get his instead of playing team ball and getting easy looks.

Porter has all the tools to be a lead guard, he just needs to put all the pieces together and that doesn't always happen.
I think he gets this year and most of next to "figure it out" as there just isn't a whole lot available at the point guard position in the draft or free agency (that isn't RFA or otherwise unattainable). After next season, if he hasn't "gotten it" they'll go another way.

What do you expect his mentor is James harden. He needs to be KPJr and find his own game. Team game. We just need to weed out the people who don’t want to play D like op said

I mean, Im just saying everyone thought he was trash but was forced to play Thesis and now we look better.

Sengun and Jalen are doing just fine though? What is the problem? I dont understand thinking that trying to let KPJ run the point guard ropes will hamper their development. I guarantee you the Rockets will choose that latter two over him in a heartbeat but they want to see how good he can really be with more time and patience. Or at least that would be my guess. I just things are very fluid right now and we should not jump the gun.

    He was a bad shooter last year ( 31.1 3pt. 52.8 TS%). He's still a bad shooter this year.

Corey Brewer once scored 51 in a game ( against Houston). Nobody has ever thought Corey Brewer was a good shooter.

Porter's game winner was a stepback over 6'2" Raul Neto. Porter hasn't been good on step back 3s. He shot 31% last year and 28% this year.

That's nothing like Harden who shot 38%, 44% and 40% on step backs in his last 3 full seasons in Houston on step back 3s.

For him to be compared to Harden, the ball has to actually go in the basket on a regular basis.
