LeBron James is NOT stupid. He would not spend 7 minutes dwelling on this, just because… There is something here. Maybe LBJ has a grudge against this dude? Maybe it wasn’t a mistake, but deliberate, and in fact so deliberate as to have plausible deniability built-in? Some people are masters at provocation that can be made look innocuous, so that people who get offended are made to look like lunatics. tMaybe LeBron knows sоmething about this guy’s background to make him think it was deliberate… LBJ doubling down like that is not something I would take lightly.
Let me ask you this, would you speak on something you didn't know about? And if you did on National TV that makes you an idiot, correct? I hate to say this but I agree with LeBron. He should have or need to do his Due Diligence.
I must admit, I didn't know the crime his father committed but I did know he was or had been in prison. As far as what he said, I think it's possible he made a mistake but like LeBron said, he should have done his Due Diligence.....that's his job as an announcer.
“I stand by my tweet,” James said. “I stand by everything I said. So, let’s just say, he thought that was the case. We get scouting reports on players, and I know you guys from the media all get memos and stuff for players and stuff before the game, right? “Y’all get like packets of stuff when y’all come to the game and what’s going on and game play. And I believe that – I’m not a play-by-play person, analyst – but I believe that they do they due diligence as well when they get their reports on teams that they’re about to play as well as their own team, right? “So, I was actually watching the game live last night when I heard, and I waited. I didn’t do it right away as you see with my tweet, I was watching the game. So, if that’s the case, if I am a play-by-play announcer, right, and I’m covering a team – my local team – in his case he’s covering the Wizards. So he remembers the Kevin Porter who used to play for the [Washington] Bullets, correct? “The first thing I would have done, I would have said, ‘Kevin Porter Jr. is coming into town, let me see if that’s his son.’ I would’ve did that due diligence way before, and I think everyone on this call would have did the same thing.”
Most likely a shitty announcer of a shitty franchise made a shitty mistake. Could of been avoided if he bothered to take a few seconds on Google to look up KPJ. Seeing he in his mid to late 60s, he might be one of those old timers who barely even tries at their job anymore. The ones who just does the bare minimum amount of work required to avoid getting fired so they can continue collecting paychecks and build up the 401k before they are forced into retirement.
Old LeBron will come for you Unless of course you're guilty of horrific human rights abuses and make him money.... then he goes after those evil people trying to stop human right abuses.
Yeah why anybody thinks LeBrons words have any weight is beyond me. Because he's famous? People that think because Celebrities are famous that they're opinions are somehow more informed or hold more weight are dumb. As far as the China thing goes LeBrons political opinions hold about as much weight as the gas station clerk down the road
Yeah your letting him off the hook. Every professional broadcaster has a TEAM of ppl that can verify information for them. They are not stupid. They are highly trained NOT to say anything offensive. He knew what he was doing and should be fired
If you think that dude said that on purpose then I got some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you
That’s the most pathetic thing I’ve read this week!!! Let me get this straight: the "person trying to stop human right abuses’, that Marvel Universe Superhero is … Fat Morley? The guy who supported Mitt “Double Guantanamo” Romney? That’s the Human Rights Hero?
The announcer should have made a comment like "KPJ shot that ball, just like he shot out of the arena at halftime."
So you think it’s possible that he did his research, knew about his father, and decided to drop this line? I don’t need to be “100%” sold on anything. But I will believe what appears likely and not make a fuss over something that appears overwhelmingly unlikely. Local announcers get details about opposing players wrong all the time. That’s way more believable to me than him making such an insensitive comment that would likely get him fired.
Before this year, our announcers didn't understand the difference between a #1 pick and a first round pick, they didn't know anything about our player's stats, and they made nightly mistakes.
Making a mistake about 1st round picks is different than a trigger reference of someone's father. The phrase "pull the trigger" should NEVER be made of a nba broadcast. He knew what he was he was doing
I mean he clearly thought his dad was in the nba, earlier in the broadcast he said something to that effect as well, I was watching. wtf are guys in here even arguing over lol just exposing themselves for being dumb
That’s true but the supposed timeframe should have been more reason for the guy to do a Google search before assuming who KPJ’s father is. Very lazy commentating
If true, I actually would for someone to pull up that clip, make a small video of it, and tweet it to Bron since he is doubling down on stupid.
Well I hate to defend Bron here but his point would still stand: The announcer didn't do his due diligence.
