"Shanghai Sharks have announced the release of Kevin Porter Jr after an incident where he threw a bowl of orange chicken at the feng shui consultant."
Amen!!! they just left christopher and kenyon martin junior out of that article....they the future too!
The vibe I got from Silas comments were the teams cares for KPJ and are willing to work with him(also good for the organization image if he actually turns his life around) but the vibe with Wood was more “whatever, he isn’t part of the long term plan anyways”
Porter admits he has struggles and works on them..... Wood doesn't think that he has a problem. That will go a long way with some people.... but I will just add that doesn't mean that Porter will mature with the Rockets timeline.
I don't like how Silas bowed down to KPJ in that interview. What a puss. No way KPJ takes him seriously after that.
Porter has been skipping those Lucas practices. Green shows up to every single one. To me Porter is all flash, no substance. Off and on the court.
Why are you guys even acknowledging this guy? You guys know how it goes when Rockets have any semblance of success. We could be really good, soon. Let me guess because I didn't even read. They want us to eat the contracts and receive little to nothing at a lost to save us from our own headache? LMFAO. When we acquired KpJ we knew what we were getting, a project. Surprised he didn't act out sooner. He is on his 3rd strike though. Let's hope he can get it together. Wood - IDk what to say about Wood. He's soft, lazy at times, and plays like a SF more than a center. Excellent 5 out guy but super soft on defense. On twitter or youtube I see people explain Wood as AD lite or a poor man's AD. I'm not saying Woods is as good as AD but I can say Wood contributes to this team (empty stats or not) more than AD does for the Lakers. Hopefully he can get it together if not Wood would be the easiest to move because he doesn't have a history like KPj. I would love to have these guys around when we really start to compete but I never seen Wood sticking around on the count he thinks he's bigger than his britches and was going to want the mx, max.
The article is stupidly dramatic. It's an attempt to get random casual fans to care. But I do agree that Wood is a loser. KPJ is a lot more divisive because so many people are hung up on his upside. People had a really hard time letting go of James White, Terrence Williams, etc after all. Upside can get sports teams to forget getting indefinite suspensions in college, flipping SUVs, flipping out over lockers and walking out at half time.
This biggest issue with the team. That comes from lack of leadership from the PG position. As well as the HC. What I'm hoping is a contender has a talented young PG on the bench and Stone can trade Wood for said PG. Then add another talented guy in the lotto and the rebuild will be well on its way. KPJ can play some PG but he isn't nor will he ever be a PG. He's a scorer that's best used as an instant offense 6th man off of the bench. Asking him to lead a team is pure foolishness.
I'm fine with the token suspension so as to not tank their trade value. These guys will be gone in a month. Plus, I don't think making an example of bad behavior is as crucial when you are one of the 3 worst teams in the league. Players may be more inclined to exhibit frustration, even if the actions are unacceptable, on a losing team. If we were a championship contender, we should probably have a shorter leash.
I get what you're saying but at some point you have to set and build the habits that turn you into San Antonio and not Sacramento. You have to signal to the existing and future guys that the franchise's ethos defines the team, not the losing. They don't need to do anything publicly but hopefully they're getting real with those guys behind closed doors.
Punishment for punishment's sake doesn't really help people grow. We can get better results by helping them understand why the behavior isn't acceptable and what alternate courses of action are available the next time a similar situation arises. Of course, that depends on the person in question having the desire to learn and grow, and to me it seems like KPJ definitely has that desire even if progress isn't always linear.
This such a good lesson for the guys. This extra extra attention paid to the Rockets is a wakeup call to the youngsters on how you can be villianized in a heartbeat for a lapse in maturity. Mostly how read the media is to castigate you and the need to be a solid pro.
Didn't we supposedly did a culture change after trading off harden, "the diva" that alot of people blamed for the collapse of the champion caliber team with his ball hogging isoball ways? Why has the culture not changed?
Bingo! Go get a young, established pg in free agency. Jalen Brunson (25 yrs old) just averaged 21ppg & 7apg while Luka was out for 8 or 9 games. We need a leader and a winner on this squad.
