They put on fantastic performances, often two hours long. This gives a good idea of what they could do live. In 1969 and 70, in Houston, they played the Music Hall. A vastly better venue. The next several years saw them playing the Coliseum. I saw them there, of course, but you needed the very best seats to get close enough that the cavernous hall didn't echo their music into oblivion. Something true about any concert I saw there.
Carole King Tapestry. I added a better sub and gave a listening to my older albums. The album has a pretty clean punch bass and her vocals never gets old.
Rash - I had a feeling that pairing Styx with Frank would cause you some outrage, hehe. But I will say that both "Equinox" and "Crystal Ball" are great hard rocking albums.
Like anything from that book, you have to take it with a grain of salt. But this was one of my favorite passages from Please Kill Me. BOB QUINE: Sylvia took Lou Reed to CBGB's to see the Voidoids. When I came offstage, he grabbed me and said, "You're a ****ing great guitar player." He didn't remember me from previously when I had hung around with him when he was in the late Velvets. I said, "Well, I really appreciate your saying these nice things about my guitar playing because you were a big influence on me." He said, "I don't give a **** about that, you're ****ing great, you're blah, blah, blah." But he was downright nasty. He said, "I hope you know that this is by no means a band you're playing with. Music is about power and domination and you should just go over there and take the whole band over. You should go over to the other side of the stage and put the guitar player out of his misery. " I'm sitting at the table with him, and for a second somebody passed and I looked away, and he said, "******* it, you look me in the eye when I'm talking to you or so help me god I'll smash you in the face." I started laughing. He said, "Don't laugh for a second, I'm deadly serious. You You look away from me again, I'll smash you in the face." This while he's telling me how great I am. I did keep my eyes on him from then on.
After thinking about this for a couple of days, I have decided to jettison my Prog rock and related subgenres off the ipod. This will be the new order: 2 Sun Ra albums 1 Canterbury scene album (also includes RIO artists) 1 Zeuhl album (also includes experimental artists that are NOT Zappa or Beefheart) 2 Free Jazz albums 2 Post Punk albums 2 Hard Bop albums 2 Dub albums 2 Miles Davis albums 2 Roots Reggae albums 2 Fusion albums 1 Dancehall/DJ Toasting Reggae album 1 Zappa or Beefheart album 2 Lee "Scratch" Perry albums 2 Blues/Blues rock albums 2 more Post Punk albums
