I found this movie depressing. It reminds me that the world could end soon, and it's because there's enough idiots out there.
This movie was absolutely perfect. The bad reviews are just haters. This was about as spot-on about the stupidity of our current world as anything I've seen. It's up there with South Park.
This movie does exactly what it wanted to do in 10 minutes or less, by design, and the consequence is that it turned almost everyone off. That makes it very interesting to try and figure out why it does that, but it's not entertaining. It's almost like it tells you what you don't really want to hear, which is that there are no heroes out there, and it's all an illusion. And nobody really wants to think that, even if they know it. Thought Vivarium did the exact same thing. It got its' message perfectly right and slammed it home fast, but it was almost annoying to watch it because it was too real. Think both sold science fiction and poked you with reality.
Well made movie although I can see the over-the-top style and editing being a turn-off for older viewers. The movie was entertaining and was good for many laughs but personally I also found it a depressing reflection of the world we live in and our gradual descent into Idiocracy.
I get that they had to hit really hard with the satire as these days people don't get something is satire. This was just a redoing of the last few years we just lived through politically. If the point is to say how comically bad our situation is in this country, my reaction is - so what? Who does this movie speak to? Whose minds is it going to change? Basically it's just saying, the media, politicians, business tycoons, and pretty much everyone who is suppose to be some kind of leader - are all just cosmically stupid when it comes to people's best interests. I feel like I wasted two hours watching this. Alright, the Elon Musk character was pretty comical.
I agree with this. A similar movie that is absurd and satirizes the impending destruction of the world is Dr Strangelove. That movie is a masterpiece and you need a Peter Sellers type for comic relief. I maybe laughed three times in 2.5 hours. The concepts were good but the whole movie just fell flat.
I thought the movie was solid, I found it to be funny at times but also thought provoking and a conversation starter. I talked about this movie quite a bit with my wife and we cannot say that about too many movies. It was divisive, it made fun of all of society, and it had uncomfortable truth. People fall in camps these days, you cannot find too many people do not fall into the typical political categories...it's because we do not think for ourselves... I want another Avengers movie brahhh....
It was a $hit movie, they tried cracking jokes on everything possible minus race and sexual orientation I believe. I never felt offended, it was just unfunny.... If the movie would have been 40 minutes shorter it would have probably been mediocre and just as forgettable but slightly more forgivable.
I actually took that character as Mark Zuckerberg, but yeah it's probably more of an amalgamation of both
