Since a couple of regulars here from the clutch bbs have asked before that I make announcements here, I figured I'd give it a whirl. Swing on by & check us out if you're not doing anything Friday. Clip from the email follows ... It's that time again. Time to get blendt. We've been saving ourselves for over a month. Which is particularly hard when you see the types of ladies who persistently beg us to take pictures of them and immortalize them on blendt posters. But now we're ready to give up the funky jams. Check it out: blendt Friday, 6/18 @ the Rhythm Room 1815 Washington w/ Gnappy & Vibe Committee music'll start around 9-930 blendting season opens around midnight www.blendt.com
Funny, I was about to post something like this as well. My band Modulator is playing at the Proletariat (903 Richmond, right near the intersection with Montrose) tonight (June 16) with The John Sparrow and 8-track Charade. We go on at 10PM and the cover is only $3.00.
What's going on witht he john sparrow? they still live in Houston. I haven't talked to Kevin in about 3 years now. Maybe longer.
Cool. Can't make it tonight, but I'll try to get out on the 16th. My band, orange is in, is playing at the Rhythm Room on July 1.
No way! I saw that and was wondering who the heck "orange is in" was. I have a buddy who likes to prance around in an orange t-shirt and claim, "Orange. It's nobody's color." What kinda music? Website?
Rootsy, pop, rock. Ask Max. He can explain it better than me. The CURRENT site is http://www.orangeisin.com/ . Kind of embarassing considering I own a freakin' web development company with Clutch, but re-design is coming this summer. I play in another band called Slapshifter. We are playing Rudyard's on July 9 and the Rhythm Room on July 23. http://www.slapshifter.com/ Somehow, the site looks similar to orangeisin.com...hmmmm...
it's like a really psychedlic mix between the Carpenters, Vanilla Ice and p*rn music. hard to explain, really. but i haven't been the same since! kidding, obviously...it's good stuff...i really enjoyed it...i think rootsy, pop, rock is about as good as words get in describing their sound...good drummer...and EXCELLENT bass guitarist!
Actually, now I want to start a band that is a psychedlic mix of the Carpenters, Vanilla Ice and p*rn music.
Sweet. I just signed your emailing lists so hopefully I'll get a reminder about those upcoming shows. Don't be embarassed about your websites. MUCH more "professional" looking than ours. But hell, we're professional musicians, not techies Well, the bassist (Greg) is, but our website STILL comes off as rather, uh, lame.
Hey guys, I have seen this band and they rock the f-in house. my boy eggy is the drummer and Toast handles the strings and vocals if I remember correctly. I once had an oppurtunity to jam on the blues harp with them, but i dropped the ball and missed their entire gig! i am still kicking myself! and the ladies..... hope you guys rock, Toast, and good luck in the studio, I'll be back there soon to jam "Low Rider" with you guys!
The Modulator/8-track Charade/John Sparrow show at the Proletariat last night was good. Those who missed it, missed it. I liked Modulator a lot (one of my favorite local bands - sort of Stereolab/Blondie music, but more rockin'), and 8-track Charade was cool (they had a Wurlitzer piano!), but I had drunk myself into a state of virtual r****dation by the time The John Sparrow was playing, and all I can remember is their haircuts. I started entertaining myself by being unecessarily rude to unsuspecting girls. Maybe. I don't know. It's a bad idea to start drinking before the first band goes on. In summary: Modulator: Awesome. 8-track Charade: Good. Dos Equis: [burp] The John Sparrow: Hey, nice 'do. Offended Girls: o-MI-god, like, I like can't believe you just said that, like, omigod.
