I am trying to get familiar with the Rockets, you guys have some great discussions and seem to be very KNOWLEGEABLE. Could someone or anyone project the "order" of depth at the 5 positions starting from starter to weakest link. Thanks in advance. FREDTERP

Its a little difficult to do without people under contract, but here's my best guess.

    Center
    Hakeem(FA)......Kelvin Cato...........Jason Collier
    PF
    Mo Taylor(FA).........Kenny Thomas......... Matt Bullard
    SF
    Eddie Griffin..........TMo.............Walt Williams.......Matt Bullard......Dan Langhi
After Griffin, I am very unsure. Griffin may get some PF minutes also.
    SG
    Cuttino Mobley..........Steve Francis...........Colson?
    PG
    Steve Francis............Moochie Norris(FA)

    Dream/Cato/Collier
Taylor/Thomas/Bullard (he did it last year, ya never know)
    Griffin/Morris/Langhi/Bullard
    Mobley/Langhi
    Francis/Moochie

Destined for the IR - Williams

When did you decide Morris would be ahead of Langhi in the depth chart, Petey?

When I decided Langhi would get most of his minutes backing up Cuttino, Luney.

I wonder if Rudy had planned on doing something similar to this even before the draft...

If so, this bet was doomed from the start.

    *sigh*

I think Jeff has it right on,but I think Shandon will probably start the season as a starter then Rudy will move him to the 6th man.Either way we will have a good 6th man in Griffin or Anderson.I also think Langhi will get most his playing time at the 2 guard spot.

It seems as if Rudy does want to use Langhi as an extremely tall 2. If you can play a zone defense, then that makes sense, as Langhi wont have to guard the other two one on one. This will be very cool, imo. Also, I dont expect Shandon back.

There are actually two depth charts:

One with Dream active and one when Dream is inactive.

    Dream Active
    Hakeem, Collier, Cato (forget it)
    Mo, Thomas, Griffin/Langhi
Griffin, Walt, Langhi/Mobley, TMo (forget it)
Mobley, Anderson (he will never play SF again), Francis
    Francis, Moochie

    Colson/Bullard have back spasm.

    Dream inactive
    Cato, Collier, Thomas (yes!)
Mo, Thomas/Griffin (we will try our very best to not make Mo play center)
    Griffin, Mobley, Walt/Langhi
    Mobley, Francis, Shandon
    Francis, Moochie, Colson

Note how we will feature 3 guards heavily if Dream goes down.

I think the trade for Griffin proved we can't predict what rabbits CD will pull out of his hat. But if the resigning of our FA's goes smoothly I predict Rudy will start the season with the vets as starters and the rooks learning from the bench:

    C Hakeem/Cato
    PF Mo/Kenny/Griffen
    SF Wiz/Langhi/Morris
    SG Cuttino/Shandon
    PG Franchise/Moochie
    IR Bullard/Collier

A dam fine team, probably a 4 or 5 seed in the west but stll a competetive, banging center away. Hakeem has been awesome forever, but he will be less effective as the 3rd or fourth offensive option.

I see TMo as a SF/SG (a la ERob, RLewis, TMac)... maybe I'm wrong.

Mine is the same as Jeff's with one exception: I really don't think Terrance Morris will instantly displace Walt Williams. This is not to say he won't eventually; but I've be very much surprised if Walt isn't 2nd (or if Anderson resigns, maybe 3rd) for at least the first couple of months.

Morris was a second round pick... albeit a steal at that place. You don't see many mid-late FIRST round picks getting much playing time immediately, much less second.

And yes, Cuttino was an exception [IMG].
