This draft right now is 4 deep...... it is possible that someone like Griffin or Jovic make it 5 deep..... but the reality is that there are currently 4 players in this draft that the majority of teams will feel comfortable getting in the draft that will be in a position to start and be either long term solid starters or all stars. The Rockets need to maximize their chance to get one of the top 4 picks..... because the difference in the value between picking 4th and picking 5th in this draft is massive.
They said that last year too about Cade/Mobley/ Green/Suggs, yet Sengun and Barnes might end up being the best players, or at least as good as some of those four. It’s a massively inexact science, especially now that draftees are all 18-19 with minimal expertience. And the ones we are talking about now are largely a few months out of high school with immature bodies, a lot of learning to do, and playing poor competition. I’d rather be higher than lower, but arbitrary hard lines are just not realistic.
I agree that it is an inexact science, hence a player like Griffin or Jovic may become a star. However, the odds are far better if you are in the top 4 of this draft. As for the last draft, Scottie Barnes was in the elite group of prospects and above Suggs. Sengun or Giddey may prove to be as good as the top 4 of Cade/Green/Mobley/Barnes..... but that isn't likely and it is cherry picking....... so out of roughly 30 players drafted outside of the top 4, maybe 1 or 2 will be as good as those in the top 4? That gives you a really small chance statistically of hitting. That doesn't even get into the trade value of a top 4 pick..... lets say the Rockets fall in love with Griffin in this draft and they can get him at #7-10 ..... there will be no shortage of teams wanting to move into the top 4 of this draft, and the Rockets could get a large return.
I have been a fan of lower lotto picks or overall later picks that turned stars .....the Kobes, the Yannises, the Kawhis, the Jokices, the Tony Parkers, Manu Ginobilis, the Michael Redds. I admit that there is a difference science picking in the Top 5, Top 10 and later respectively.
I will never understand some of you guys wanting to tank and then getting mad and complaining when the Rockets lose. it's weird.
dont be one of those who try’s to make fans feel bad for being upset with the team. Blind support of things that don’t work doesn’t make you more of a fan than everyone else. Go eat some freedom fries.
Are people really whining about the 2nd and 3rd string kids now??? Some of you just need to come to terms with the fact that you are not built for the youth movement/rebuild and find a better bandwagon to hop on.
Wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the whiners are the same people who said they would rather watch the Rockets play more team ball and lose than watch Harden play winning basketball.
First of all, don't tell me what to do. Secondly, this isn't a fandom competition and I would win a lot of those when it comes to the Houston Rockets anyway. Thirdly the blind are the ones b****ing and complaining about a very young team, with half it's roster missing, on the road getting smacked around by a very good team WHILE HAVING THE PHRASE LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT IN THEIR SIGNATURE. Be upset about something that matters. Go do counseling this isn't your group therapy anger management substitute forum. This is more of a "we failed as stand up comedians and also like this professional basketball team" kind of place.
What a change from yesterdays game, it looked like yesterdays game didnt even matter if it was a win or a loss. Todays game was very good and entertaining to watch., this was what I would have expected when I see an upcoming team.Y
