the same experts who were hyping Sengun where also hyping Garuba. Also Garuba played pretty well on defense in the Olympics. It's so strange that people are so quick to discard players that are still teenagers. we just need to chill out and be a little patient. You cant expect them to be great from jump. sheesh.
What Stone saw in him was defensive potential and athleticism. He's only 19 years old and was already regarded as a raw prospect during the draft. No one expected polish after 75 NBA minutes. Like Clint, it make take Garuba a few years to be a productive player.
looks like a project at this point, but hey, if he can hit that corner three, i guess he can play that stretch five?
Rockets are rebuilding, so it doesn't really matter to me. Let him screw up as much as he wants until he figures it out. I still like Garuba and his potential. Even if he doesn't pan out for the rockets (I think he will), hitting on all 4 rookies would make the Rockets a gawd damn dynasty. Garuba looks awkward when he plays, but I watched this game and Garuba is a lot more dynamic than these highlights show. Garuba calls for the ball not to score, but to pass to an open man. Many times in this game he passed to the right guy when he was going point forward but the guy just missed their shots.
People are so quick to dismiss any player if they're not immediate stars or don't show immediate dividends. Look no further than Giannis. Dude was 19 (I think) when he was drafted and was just as raw as Garuba. Not saying Garuba is the next Giannis or anything, but imagine if Milwaukee's FO had the same mindset as some CFers and gave up on a potential top 75 player of all-time, just because he wasn't immediately the Giannis of today.
dynasty indeed. He can be like draymond hopefully. I never thought christopher would be able to hit that three. So if garuba turns into another pj tucker for us, id be happy with that. Damn straight well be a dynasty with all these picks coming.
Wish we’d just keep Garuba in the G League for the year so he can get reps and get used to NBA rules/style. Im not concerned about a pick in the 20s this year.
