nah. Dick Vermeil was not a tough coach and he won championships. "Tough" coaches are usually compensating for some other deficiency ala Bill OBrien. Is Budenholzer a tough coach? Nope. Popovich hasnt done squat in how many years? One of my best friends is a Marine - veteran of Desert Storm. My father in law was a POW in Vietnam. Army. My deceased dad was a Korean War veteran. I have the utmost respect for you and anyone else who has served, but proclaiming toughness on certain sectors and then using that to apply to a 19 year old civilian kid who plays basketball for a living is ridiculously absurd. Its yet another example of how far people will go to put this kid down - some just an eerie fetish to keep the efforts of hate at a maximum. What will happen when this kid does his job? "Whoops guess I was wrong - go Rockets woo hoo" simple as that after all of the slander and narratives. BS if you ask me. All of these realized assertions in 18 games - simply amazing.
Naw it isn't. Anyone that's out on a rookie what 30 games in tahts showed massive flashes btw, deserves to be blasted. It's so obvious he gonna be good.
Fyi John wall lived up to his number 1 pick. That's cap to say otherwise other then injuries tahts out his control. Just like Simmons. Yall cam cap all day. Them guys lived up to the billing.
There is thousands of fans who think otherwise. It is just an opinion, no clue why people think they need to coerce others into the same mindsets. Your post did not live up to my standards for example, big whopp, nobody really gives 2 shets. It is not substantial to anyone.
Why is it that when Green has a few bad games and is not playing up to par we get, "oh hes holding the team back" or "oh hes a bust". But when Cade has the same type of slow start to his career we get " oh he'll be alright. He just has to get acclimated to the NBA." What up with that homies??
Lowry was the 24th pick and delived 80.1 Win Share when he was 31 and that was before he won a championship with Kawhi. Wall got only 44.1 Career Win Share, that is half the number of Lowry's who was picked a whole lot later. Injuries are part of the sports, players have to accept it, but yes, he had bad luck.
John Wall's draft class was quite meh/weak. They had no rookie of the year b/c blake griffin was able to win it after sitting out a season. That speaks volume of the quality of player in the 2010 draft class U can say he lived up to his number 1 pick for his draft class.
Waaaay too much for me to have read, but pretty in line with the response I was expecting... For starters you responded to me, not the other way around, and now you are trying to say I associated YOU with calling him a bust? Definitely sounds like a YOU problem at this point. As for Green being disappointing, that's really an overreaction on your part as it was super easy to take a look at his frame and shooting averages and know there were going to be some rough times ahead until he bulks up a bit and figures some things out, especially if his jumper doesn't become more consistent. Playing with KPJ, who is basically the same player as him, has not helped how he has looked either. As for being let down if he doesn't win ROY or make the team his, that's just silly. It's a fantastic example of chasing and being blinded by short term goals. What actually matters is how he develops, especially since we have at least 2 other players that Rockets are trying to see if they can develop into the face of the franchise. Howe about just letting him play, figure things out, and seeing where the cards fall? That's called being SMART. Scouting and coming up with projections is absolutely guesswork. Some people are simply better (or at least, better prepared) at seeing the forest instead of the trees. They are making educated guesses based off statistics, trends, and how players with similar attributes have panned out. The more data you can gather and accumulate, the higher the chance of your guess landing on the right side of history. Keep in mind, this not a binary thing. Guesswork does not mean 50-50 odds. Like I said, ask your "circle" about it and see what they say.
oh! Cade has bust written all over him! This draft was waaaaaaaaay overhyped. Around this time of the season you usually get some amazing rookie buzz. Simmons/Mitchell/Tatum in 2017, Luka in 2018, Ja in 2019... 2020 you had Wiseman with the early buzz, but then he fizzled, as Lamello and Edwards picked up There has been nothing super-exciting from this class. Mobley and Barnes are really good, but in a kinda of "Valuable players with a long career" way, not blazing stuff... And to think about how lukewarm analysts were about Wiseman and Lamelo in 2020 and how excited they were for the top of the 2021 class. I am not seeing anything extraordinary yet from anyone.
