I agree with this first part To me, the Rockets rotations the past 2 seasons have felt more like the 'rotating the squad' type of lineups you see from the elite, crazy-deep soccer clubs in Europe like Chelsea and ManCity It's not uncommon to see superstars like De Bruyne and Lukaku not even suit up, even when fully healthy in mid-season, so that young guys can get some experience in lower comps like the Carabao Cup Guys coming back from even minor injuries sometimes wait weeks to reclaim game minutes as they work their way back to 'fit form' This is not a common NBA practice I agree with DD that this seems to be at least partially tank-related, with trade showcasing playing a part as well Injuries seem to be the catch-all excuse so Silas doesn't have to address why our future backcourt basically missed the month of DEC, or why management intentionally continues to slow down a team that is messing up the grand plan by progressing way ahead of schedule I'm cool with it if: - we can land a Gordon & House trade by the deadline, and Wood blows up his trade value for the summer - we get plenty of court time to accurately gauge the future roles for the 4 rookies - we have a shot at 1 of the top 3 picks next June to grab another cornerstone at PF - we definitively identify KPJ's future position/role going forward Pretty much everything else that happens this season is irrelevant to me If Garry or Brooks or KJ secures a rotation spot going forward, that's just a cherry on top
I think they should at least communicate better. 'We have no concrete plans going forward how to work them in' is a lazy line.
Ha ... shows how quickly my attention to this team withers when 2 of our 3 best hopes for the future get furloughed for an entire month Are you reading this Stone / Silas ??? Green + KPJ on the court = eyeballs on your team EGo + Augustine = eyeballs on Duke/Gonzaga/Auburn ... Nitpicking flaws to determine our next starting 4 ... while still mourning the missed opportunity to have Mobley locked in there for the next decade as we prepare to take Jaden Ivey as our new starting 2 this summer at pick #4
Well I agree the Rockets are purposely keeping Green and KPJ out of the lineup. But I also think that the Rockets need to establish the support group, so that not all the pressure falls upon the shoulders of Green and KPJ. And it’s working, Wood, Gordon, Tate, Sengun, Matthews, are all upping their game big time. Green was playing too rigid, he thought he needed to do it all. The Rockets have a decent rotation, it’s workable. So Green and KPJ just need to trust the system and play within the parameters that the coaches want them to play. If they prove they can handle more, the coaches will slowly give them more responsibility.
That's probably Tilman's contribution Box office walk-ups certainly take a big hit if they come out immediately to say 'You won't see our exciting young backcourt until JAN' vs 'They could be back very soon!' KPJ doesn't bother me nearly as much because his absence has carved out consistent court time for JayGup, who may be the more important piece down the road But if they're intentionally delaying any development of Green ... well ... that is pretty much the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face He's clearly not ready to consistently lead a winning team, and even if his presence kills a few ping pong balls, he needs every moment he can get to learn the NBA game Developing Green into our scoring Alpha is, without question, the absolute top priority for the team until the last game of the season Maybe a few weeks in DEC has a negligible effect on his growth, and if he returns a dramatically more efficient player, it will be hard to argue with any method that delivers clear progression I'd rather 'settle' for Baldwin or Houston in the draft if it means Green has erased all doubt that he is our franchise player by May
Reading your post, i imagine that you’re turning into the Robocop/Terminator, DD. as for the boo boo boys, well their injury makes up for a chance to Garry Bird. I don’t think we lock Garry for 4 years if he’s playing with limited minutes
I think this sitting Green to help our lottery chances conspiracy is pretty silly. He isn’t the missing cog at this point in his career and had a hamstring injury. Hamstring injuries are touchy and if you have the luxury of holding someone out for a little while longer to make sure it does not get chronic, you do it. KPJ, on the hand, may have something to do with the tank, because he was playing exceptionally well the 5 games leading up to the injury.
Look the point is we have too many like skilled players, and they are using the boo boo excuse to sit some and let others play to decide on them, which is a form of tanking. There is no way, that KPJ is not ready to play, or Green for that matter, these were like scratches.....but they are probably being held back to work on their game while they look at other players like Brooks and Mathews. DD
Or, they were legitimately hurt and experiencing re-occurring injuries. In which case they need to get to 110%, so we aren't doing that for the rest of the season. Not as exciting as Bigfoot though.
