NY has ~70% of their population vaccinated and just had the highest # of daily covid cases of the entire pandemic. YUP, the vaccine is working alright...
Yes, the vaccine is working incredibly well. In their last peak in Jan 2021 with around 16k cases per day, there were 9,200 in the hospital and 1600 in the ICU. They currently have 4000 in the hospital and 770 in the ICU. So considerably more cases, yet less than half the amount of people in the ICU. Compared those numbers to the first peak in April 2020 when there were 18,000 in hospitals and 5,200 in the ICU.
