Id like to see us start Alp the rest of the year next to Wood. Unless Wood is dealt.

I am all about extending Wood if we can get a decent deal BUT him and Sengun have to project as the front court of a playoff team in 2023.

He’s just OK to me . I think sengun will be better by next year . Your statistical production does not equal how good of a player you are . Wood can look like a unicorn at times , but he’s already 26 and I don’t think he has a great feel for the game . And I think he’s got serious tunnel vision

Imo , rockets should build around kpj-tate-sengun as the 1-3-5 . Hope green pans out as your star 2 . It’s worth trying wood and sengun more together . But , I think you already have garuba who’s interesting and want to pick up more of a long and quick, defensive oriented 4 . Ariza / luc mold .

I don’t necessarily like a lot of the contracts that you can match up with wood . Maybe the outlook is better next year . I know he will be expiring , but if he’s looking the same or better we can still get a good package for him . possibly offseason too .

I’m in the maybe move him camp , even though I don’t necessarily like his fit for the future and I’m just skeptical overall .

I’d say it’s 20-30% he’s part of the team in 2-3 years . Whereas I’m way higher confidence on Tate , kpj , and ofc sengun .

Not a good Christian then, huh?
    (Sorry. I might regret this.)

I made the same joke, he is alright under a reasonable contract.

I think Wood has to learn to play as a complimentary player to Sengun (I.e. focus a bit more on catch and shoot and guard the best 4/5). If not then hopefully 2 first rounders (one should be top 10) at minimum for him at the deadline.

I think it can work, it's easy to play with Sengun. They've been watching his minutes and working on his game. He trains hard even on game days. Still needs some polishing but his minutes will go up in the second half no matter what. Just need the perfect versatile 4/5 defender who can hit an open 3, and I suspect that will be Garuba in the near future.

Well, I don't think everybody on the roster would like Wood to stay.
For example, KJ got snarled at because he took an uncontested rebound away from Wood. I believe he will remember this for a long time, and it's not a happy memory.
Even though Wood's an integral part for wins, I still believe he's playing only for himself and his stats.

I think he was trying to troll about Kenyon Martin, Jr., not KPJ.

    Common sense right?

Wood returns and Rockets win again, Wood easily best player on court.

3ball starts to fall again too.

    Coincidence?

The Bulls are a young team that is on the precipice of contention. Wood fits perfectly with them. Young enough to grow with Lavine, Caruso, and Ball, and mature enough to contribute right now.

They have a young stud in Pat Williams who is out for the year after getting surgery on his wrist. Hyper athletic, has a great mid-range game, shot 39% from three as a rookie (on low volume), and can create off the dribble. And he is just 20!

If we trade Wood, I want this guy. If the Bulls are looking to go for it this year while keeping their window of contention open, there aren't many better pieces out there than Wood (who is a better fit with Vuce than Sabonis/Turner).

Hou in: Patrick Williams and Coby White
    Hou out: Christian Wood

Why Houston does it: Wood's value is at its peak. While he is a good player and contributes to winning, his value is higher as an asset than as a player on the court given his age and potential salary demands in the near future. Williams gives the team length and athleticism next to Sengun and has a reliable enough jumper to keep teams honest. He is a high level role player who would be perfect growing with KPJ/Green/Sengun and co. White is a nice option off the bench behind KPJ at point guard. He has shown the ability to play the 1 in the NBA but his age and the fact that he is under contract for 2 additional years lines up with the Rockets roster.

    KPJ/White
    Green/Christopher
    Tate/Martin
    Williams
    Sengun/Garuba

Rockets would have 2 first round selections to add to this team for next season and a the ability to bring in a max free agent and more first round picks in the summer of 2023. That team has the makings of trouble for the NBA.

    Chi in: Christian Wood
Chi out: Patrick Williams and Coby White

Why Chicago does it: With Williams hurt and White getting COVID almost immediately upon coming back from injury, the Bulls get a talented big man for guys who are not playing at the moment and whose talent, today, is less than Wood's. This is an all in move for Chicago as they want to keep Lavine in the building and will need a deep run to do that potentially. This move compliments their deal for Vucevic last year IMO.

    Ball/Dosunmu
    Lavine/Caruso
    Derozan/Jones
    Wood/Johnson
    Vucevic/Bradley

I'll do it since I think Patrick Williams is going to be special.

Don't know if the Bulls would though. Teams will have a layup drill against a Wood/Vecevic front court.

Agreed on Williams. I think he would fit so well next to Sengun as an athletic guy that can play defense and also shoot reasonably well out to 3 on offense. I also think his passing is underrated. He would be off the table if he wasnt hurt and if Chicago wasnt really needing to make a move this season to go deep into the playoffs. I would consider adding Tate to the deal if the Bulls would come back with one of their first rounders this year (they have their own and Portland's).

I think it would be way more to acquire Williams but I agree with the thinking.

I think it would take Wood and the Bucks pick.

I’d be ok with that. Not sure Bulls will trade Williams though.

The angriest day of my Rockets fandom was the day Tracy McGrady quit on the team during a game with the Raptors. If you saw it too you will never forget it.

I hate to say it but it feels a little like CWood has a bit of that in him. I'm good with him for now but my gut tells me that if he's not going to be the no 1 or no 2 on a championship caliber team then we need to trade him when his value is at its peak. Because it seems he believes he should be the no 1 or no 2 on the team and if he's not he's not going to play up to his potential consistently.

If however he had the humility and grit of a Garry Bird, along with his skills, I'd be all for 5 yr 20 mil, but right now I don't see it. I say get the picks.
