    It really makes no sense to me. Why waste a roster spot when you could be rotating UDFAs through there and finding the next JaeSean Tate?

    I'm sure Udonis Haslem knows all the collusion secrets between Pat and the big three, that in return for his silence, he will continue getting minimum contracts for as long as he desires lol.

    Ok, but why take up the roster spot?? For a team that just paid an UDFA $18M/year, you'd think they would value scouting, and trying to find diamonds in the rough.

    Having a locker room leader is not the same as an assistant coach. It's very different dynamics. It's not uncommon to have a guy like that in the Euroleague (Antonis Fotsis for Panathinaikos, Felipe Reyes for Real Madrid, Paulius Jankunas for Zalgiris). I'm actually surprised more teams don't have a guy like that to instill the culture of the team to the new guys.
