AP£ºYao Ming stars in promo film

    SHANGHAI (AP) - You know Yao Ming the basketball star.

    Now meet Yao Ming the chef. And the musician. And the gardener.

    The Houston Rockets centre plays those roles and others in a promotional film for his hometown, Shanghai, due for release next month.

    Yao will be shown working a variety of jobs "honouring the spirit of Shanghai residents from all walks of life and highlighting the city's role as an international metropolis," according to a news release from the film's producers, the Shanghai Media Group.

    Yao's NBA fame has made him one of China's most popular celebrities and a highly sought-after pitchman.

    Last week, he was chosen as a global ambassador for the Special Olympics and topped a Chinese survey of favourite athletes.

    HAHA i thought it said PORNO, i was like, this is soo getting locked let me open it n see wat it says before it does, but now i see it says PROMO film. <--- Thats no fun :(

    It'll sell like hot cakes if Yao made what we thought it was.

    Didn't some reporter ask him if all the parts of his body are in proportions?

    Yao: " If they are, I'd be 10-feet tall."

    I don't care what it costs... we have to keep this guy until he retires. Are there any numbers on how much our Jersey sales have gone up in China since we drafted him? Dude is like one of the top international pitch men... great business move.

    And this has nothing to do with his unfortunate accident but...
