lord knows ive said some offensive stuff on here, but from a clutchcity...nay, from a human being standpoint, this is the most putridly offensive thing i have ever read.

the only thing karl malone deserves is a swift kick in the groin.

Anyone wins deserves to win, and anyone can't win doesn't deserve to win. Karla worked hard or whatever, it's his own decision, and his attitude to his job, where he is doing fine. There are tons of athelets ended their careers without championships. There is really no need to talk about deserving or not. Even if many people don't think Steve deserve the All-star vote, he actually does, because fans love him and they vote for him. When we fans talk about someone deserves something, I guess it's more about our own opinion whether you prefer that person to get something. Well, to be honest, as reasonable I claim I am, I don't want Karla to get a ring, coz I hate bandwagon jumper, and I hate guys playing tough by bullying people of his half-size, and I hate guys trying to hurt people intentionally in the games etc. Basically, Karla represents almost everything I dispise for a sportsman. Therefore, I don't want him to get a ring. In translation to "objective" and "fair" sports language, he does NOT deserve a ring.

This whole "Karla deserves a ring" thing deserves a rest. You have to ask yourself why players want to win the ring. It's not just a pretty piece of hardware. It REPRESENTS something. It represents the idea that you were an intricate part of the best team of that particular year. For instance, look at this year's Pistons (assuming they win): the championship ring will mean a hell of a lot more to Chauncey Billups than it will to, say, Darko. This is because Chauncey had a much more active role in bringing that championship to Detroit. It will still be a meaningful accomplishment to Darko, but it won't hold the same value.
If Karl Malone had won a ring while with Utah, it would have held tremendous sentimental value for him. And I admit, the fact that he has played for 18 years has got to make it more valuable to him than to many others. But what has he accomplished this season that merits a ring so badly? Gravytraining onto the most imposing starting lineup in NBA history, continuing the tactics that have made him the most hated player in the NBA, and giving up on his team that needed him very badly at the time? Don't get me wrong, Malone's decision to go to L.A. is a personal one and I could personally give a rat's ass. But forgive me if I don't fall over myself crying about how a player-turned-average who has made a career of dirty tactics and injuring other players doesn't cash in this season.

You obviously were not a Rockets fan in the 90's.

    Go play in the sandbox.

Karl Malone had great skills and a great work ethic, but he tainted it all by unnecessarily playing dirty ball. No one deserves a ring less.

Dude how old are you? 15? Tool. Your screen name shows that you are really an expert in basketball. Go back and watch baseball with your momma.

Wow. I can't believe how everyone on this board hates Karla. I am not sure if this stems from the age of the posters on this board, but how old is everyone on this board for one?

I am not a big Karla fan myself, but he's bad ass for a man who's 40 years old and has a good work ethic. Yes, he's pretty dirty, but it's funny as hell. He's dirty in a WWF type of way. I for one was pissed off at Karla and hated the fact that he was against Magic's comeback because he feared getting HIV. What a dumbass, but so was Charles.

So no one here respects the fact that Karla is one of our greatest players of all time and decides to take a paycut to win a championship? I hate the Fakers, but I don't hate Karla. I hate Kobe and Gary more than Karla, but I'll put on my flame jacket on right now. lol

Wow, that's uncalled for. You don't need to hate Karla, and you can even love him, but you don't have to be so frustrated that few people agree with you on this Rockets board. You tried very hard to convince people, but what you said are basically irrelevent. He worked hard, so what, does each hard-working janitor deserve a CEO title? Who could also argue that you hate Kobe without a reason. Coz he won fair and square, unlike Malone. Yes, he's cocky, but everyone in NBA is. You just don't get it, people hate Karla, not because he's an average skilled player, not because he was a life-long Utah(well, maybe some), but mostly people hate him was because he's scary whinny, who played dirty all his life, who played to hurt others intentionaly. Again, let me try to clarify, in my eyes, he does NOT deserve a ring, and I guess I am not the only one is this opinion.

Okay, I'll play along with you, you Malone troll..

Old enough to have watched the twin towers lose to Bird and the Celtics in '86 and definitely old enough to watch the 2 back-to-back titles and DEFINITELY old enough to watch the f*cker Malone that you want to get a ring so badly f*cking bearhug Drexler so he couldnt stop Stockton from hitting that BS 3 in the '97 WC finals. I don't give a rat's ass if Malone had been a perfect citizen his whole career....that one incident right there shows me that no one who follows the Rockets with any regularity could like the guy. Period. The fact that you cannot realize this (which is so obvious to 99.9% of the people that post here) shows me and everyone else that you are completely clueless, a troll, or both (probably both). But great insult about me watching baseball, etc - that really put me in my place. You think I am 15 yet you come up with an insult that a 15 year old could have done better. So, I'll let the people who read this board draw their own conclusions about the level of your intelligence here.

Just when I thought I couldnt read anything else more asinine from you, you give me this. Earth to Val - this is a Rockets forum. Why would you expect us to like a guy who has made a career out of being a cheapshot artist thug?? And you don't have to be 8 or 48 to realize that Malone is a punk, plain and simple, so I really don't understand why you think that someone who watched him play as a rookie would think any differently of him now. Once a cheap shot artist thug, always a cheap shot artist thug.

WTF?? You are not a big fan but you go on about how he is a "bad ass" and "funny as hell"? Okay, if you say so...

No one respects a cheap shot artist thug punk. No one respects a player who has tried to injure others repeatedly in his career. No one also respects someone who wants to leech off others to desperately win himself a ring.

This thread is stupid and trollish and that really is all that needs to be said. If you honestly can't understand why this is the case, Val, then I really don't know what to tell you except to take your Malone loving somewhere else because we are not going to put up with it here. Period.

    1. If you can't believe how/why we hate Malone so much, you must not have been a Rockets fan for that long then.

    2. I can't see the 'badass'ness of a 40 year old man that basically is playing on borrowed time in a body that is breaking down on him. The only thing he has going for him that gives him any kind of competitive edge are his cheating ways and his rep.

    3. Yes decides to take a paycut to get a ring...wait...he's also one of the greatest as well? Seems to me a great player like that shouldn't stoop so low so LATE into his career just to stuff more accolades into his box. I hate Stockton when he was playing but I respect him more now that he retired with some dignity and wouldn't ever think of riding anyone's coattails for a ring. You say Malone and Payton aren't riding Kobe and Shaq? You better re-watch the playoffs again and see who bailed out whom time and time again.

I can't believe you didn't see this coming.

Why don't you go to the Yankees BBS and post how great the Red Sox are?

I'm not even going to bother reading the rest of this thread, because I'm sure you've been flamed enough.

    OK, maybe not.

The only thing Karl Malone deserves is a sharp elbow to the throat and a stinging knee to the gut from a couple of hundred NBA players over the past 18 or so years.

man, i think of all the greats who never got rings and you have the nerve to say malone "deserves" one? for what reason??? you have got to be kidding. i can think of at least ten players that "deserve" a ring more than malone based on integrity, respect for the game, talent and hard work. besides, i deserve a billion dollars. there is no "deserve" in life. you have to take it.
