Trivia Question: who had the most rings from those six celtics?

I'm guess ing DJ, since he also picked up a ring in Seattle.

Jeff, do you think that Houston wasn't one of the 12-15 teams that contacted Webber?

If not, why would Houston be in this mix?

Is Shandon's redundancy and Mo's poor rebounding more important for this team than Webber's all around skill level?

I haven't even tried to protect Shandon by looking at his unrenounced salary when trying to figure out if Webber is doable... but some have and still had 12-13 million left around (after including Moochie's unrenounced hit, Langhi, Bullard) suggesting that the only costs to acquiring Webber is Mo, maybe Dream (who knows what Dream's deal is). We can go over the numbers again and perhaps show that Moochie unrenounced, Dream @ 4.5, Bullard at the veteran's exception and Webber @ 12 million are all doable if you'd like (Dream's salary is the only stretch there, but it'd be fun to look at the numbers anyhoo).

To sign webber we have to renounce Dream and fall under the cap. Doesn't that mean we don't get any exceptions 1M, 4.5M for a year? I could be wrong but it seems to me I heard that here before. Obviously there is the possibility of a sign and trade but then you have to give up some quality in return. About the only players I would give up would be Walt, Shandon, and Cato which they probably wouldn't want either.

If we get Webber forget Dream coming back. If he's complaining about not getting touches before, and we add 2 more big time scorers then he's gone. And you can forget adding Marc Jackson, and Antonio Davis, and Nazr Mohammad and the like with Webber tying up the cap space. So our starting center would be Cato. And people complained about what Shaq did to us last year. . .

    For signing Webber via FA

-Yes we give up our 4.5 exemption (this year).

-Yes we have to renouce Dream.

-Yes we forego Naz/Marc (I see no good reason to pursue A. Davis. Webber is younger, taller, a better rebounder and all-around terrific offensive game Davis can't even dream about, why would you pursue him for around the same cost??)

-Yes we probably lose Mo too.

-Maybe we lose Moochie or Shandon (but it my mind these are relatively independent from the Webber situation, see below)

Are all these worth it for Webber?

Absolutely. The 4.5 exemption pops back next year, and thereafter, plus this year we can still sign guys at the league vet minimum (offer Moochi a long term deal starting at the vet minimum, which I think is between 2-3 for him). If we did this trade we really would only be weak next year at center and possibly back up guard, and Cato + Collier + journeyman (whomever we can find at the vet min at C and a G) wouldn't be the end of the world. Then next year we get a 4.5 exemption to further try to improve our C or back-up G situation.

In short, as Crash said, you don't get a chance at a player like Webber for nothing (just $) very often. But it isn't that hard to replace any of the other pieces we risk losing. Though losing our legend of course would sting, I'd get over it.

I'm not talking about signing Davis OR Webber, I mean Davis to play center, and Mo at PF. Again, you get Webber, but who is your center? Webber was complaining about the lack of tough big men in Sacramento, it would be worse in Houston! So our frontcourt is Webber and Cato.

The Blazers have 11 all-stars ? Or are we talking former all stars ? The only star on that team is Rasheed Wallace. The rest are above average/role players.

Could we possibly sign Webber, Dream, Mooch and Bull?

Why the hell doesn't Olajuwon understand that he is not worth more then 3-4 mil to anyone right now. He is a lock to be injured for at least half the year (such as every year since 95) and when productive is no longer the first, second, or even third option on this team. He should welcome Webber, play alongside him (what a duo!) and enjoy his last years on the court.
Hakeem, learn from your pal Charles.

Wouldn't it be cool if Hakeem came back from the Middle East and decided he wants to stay with us and sign for 1 mil and get Webber and keep Shandon too! Whhhoooooppppiiiieeee!!!

Mr. President. No man thinks more highly than I of three legged cows. They deserve to live. On my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of reason. Cows with three legs are good. We are apt to shut our eyes against a painful truth : three-legged cows are better. They are better because the meat on them is better. The steaks are more tender. Three-legged cows tend not to wander as much. These cows could be the symbol of our country. The world would look upon us with great respect. They will want our cows and pay good money for them. The cows could symbolize freedom and hard work and three legs are better than four. They are meant for us; they can be meant for no other.
