BK does have a veggie burger. But I've heard bad things. For me, it's Jason's Deli (garden sandwich) or Subway (veggie delight). that's the only veggie fast food i get. I eat Subway once a week (usually Sunday when I'm too lazy to nuke a frozen dinner)
Veggie burgers at any fast food place stink because they'e just microwaved. They're far too of a niche item to dedicate a seperate grill to them.
The best veggie burger at a restaurant I've had is at Bennigan's. It tastes like a real burger. I've heard great things about Naturally Yours down on Almeda, but haven't been.
I used to eat MorningStar garden burger patties all the time. But I gave them up a couple of years ago.
For vegetarian food, the tortilla chili at Moveable Feast on I-10 and Echo lane/Blaylock is awesome. I'm sure its fairly healthy if you get it without the jack cheese option.
The grillers variety by Morningstar ones are the closest things I've found to tasting like real burgers. The others are useless and seem novelty like items. I like their hot dogs too.
The Hobbit Cafe Not technically fast food, but very veggie friendly and they have take out if you call ahead.
I tried one of those once. You're right, it tasted too much like a real burger. Couldn't stomach it at all. I used to love the garden patties, but I think I finally OD'd on them.
Vietnamese sandwiches - fast, healthy and cheap. They are usually $2 a sandwich and come with pork or chicken or tofu.
not sure about healthy or fast food, but ima_drummer2k get the Ruben from Kahn's in the Rice Village, it's big enough for 3 meals!!!!! so that has to be healthy
I ate one of those things once and I don't know what was in it. In addition to the recognizable pork and vegetables, there were these little stringy things. They're kind of clear and they stretch. I couldn't figure out whether it was animal, vegetable, or mineral and finally decided not to put anything in my system that I didn't know about. Anyone have any intelligence on this?
Pizza Hut uses beef broth in the pizza sauce. In any event, that would be vegetarian, but not healthy.
There are a bunch of Mediterranean restaraunts that have really good vegetarian foods. Items such as falafel, hummus, and baba-ganesh are great items which are veggie-friendly. Some restraunts I would recommend are the House of Kabob, Fadi's, Droubi's, Mama's Po Boy and Shawarma King. Most of these places are at or around Westheimer.
