OK, so first Wood is a different player than Nurkic, much more versatile to fit. But the other point that hasn’t been discussed much: how much of that Denver decision was based on having a Bosnak and a Serb playing the same position? With all the sheet that went there not long ago, I cannot honestly imagine all peaceful and harmonic relationship…
Wood came to the Rockets to play with Harden and put up numbers in a Silas offense/*defense......not for a rebuild, but to build up his stock. I'm guessing Rockets will cash in big on a Wood trade. _________________ Wood wants Max Money + Tilman won't pay Wood Max Money = Wood trade at deadline. ______________ Wood will make some contending team exponentially better. Top 3 team in the West or top 3 in the East would/should then become one of the favorites to win it all. Unless the Rockets are 6th seed or better....I see the Rockets trading in on Wood, Gordon, House, Nwaba Get DJ Wilson type players in return to fill in. Our young players get some playoff experience. Chet and Banchero are not good enough to lose on purpose and shoot for "worst 3" rankings. In Wood, Gordon, House, Nwaba trades + 1st round picks the Rockets already own; Rockets would have enough picks to move up anywhere in the first round. I'm for setting Wood free...on to better pastures. He deserves being a 3rd option on a contender. *Getting rebounds and blocks as a "Small-Ball" center
I no longer have that wood from last night when I posted on the first page of this thread. Shrunk again as usual. But I'm still thinking bout sengun. I guess that's gods way of telling me we trade wood and keep sengun.
At some point, Houston has to ask themselves, “Are we committed to a championship rebuild or are we committed to short-term success?”. Because one window (Sengun) represents everything the rebuild is all about: searching for cornerstone talents. The other window (Wood) may get you more wins now, but costs you valuable information. That information being whether or not Sengun can the centerpiece to a rebuild. It’s not worth holding on to Wood if he’s simply going to be your fallback option in 2023 free agency (when Houston has max cap space). Sengun figures to play a significant part in Houston’s future and they just have to find out how much so. Is he just an awesome starter in the NBA or a cornerstone talent worthy of being built around? These answers will dictate how they should handle trades, draft research, and timeline formulation for their rebuild. The earlier they find this stuff out, the better.
Wood was an excellent bet. We gave him a fair contract when even the team (Pistons) who saw him get better would not. Wood is a lesser Chris Bosh who should be the third-best player on a contender. He played well now he needs to be moved to a contender for draft picks, younger talent, or both.
I say both, Wall will be off the books next year so you can pay him a good chunck of money maybe not the max but good money. Give him the market value.
CWood's offense is top-notch, that's without any question. but i bet just a few contenders are willing to offer him a spot (C/PF) in their starting lineup, teams who gonna pursue him are those has long coveted his offensive skillset as well as all in fight for 6-8 playoff berths (est/wst); as for championship caliber teams, for one thing they need vets who got playoff experiences, for another, before make a call to Stone their coaching staff can easily figure out n recognize that Wood avg bball IQ and his weaknesses on defensive end could bring them a disaster/ quick collapse in critical moment of playoff games.
why move him? this is so shortsighted... if you find a good player you keep him ...you need good depth to win championship....window for winning is so short so you gotta be prepared for injuries and different matchups once the opportunity is there...you can not afford injury or a problematic mathcup to deny you the rings... wood or sengun is so shortsighted and false dichotomy... you need them both particularly because they are so different CLOSE THREAD
I was comparing the situation of them not being a good fit on the court together….which is my point, if Wood and Sengun are not good together on the court then one will need to go eventually. I didn’t compare wood to nurkic or jokic from an ability standpoint. Only the situation of having two guys that needed starter minutes that couldn’t really play together or they could but it minimized the value of one or both.
so you basically give up on tryin to win it all? dont tell me we cant because we would be on 9 w now streak if not for purposeful losing we almost beat the defending champs if not for the silas sabotaging us @D-rock
Sengun keeps everyone involved and the offense running. Makes the game fun to watch. Wood can shoot but is too much of a Diva to play a team game. We need to be following GSW’s game. Especially with all these draft picks we have we could pick up a bunch of Senguns. JGreen is young enough to mold him to a team game. KPJr I’m on the fence on.
Divisiveness. This board is filled with FOs; FANS OF THIS PLAYER AND/OR THAT PLAYER....We should be ROCKETS FANS. I was a Harden fan but once he got traded, I'm no longer a Harden fan. And I think a lot of what you and fans alike are doing are dividing the purpose of this board, which is to support THE ROCKETS.
Lol. First off you say, " of course they don't have to", then in the very next sentence you say, "Sengun makes Wood expendable". You weren't being hypothetical, you were trying to get an idea of which player the board likes best.
I'm just super unsure of why Silas chooses to bring Theis out of hibernation every once in a while to start him. He's half the player Sengun is, and doesn't work nearly as well next to Wood. Start Sengun with Wood. Run your offense through Sengun. Give the man 25 minutes a night.
First off, I love Sengun's game but as of right now, he hasn't proven he can stay on the court. He needs more experience. Second, I think he and Wood could make a very good tandem. These fans who are pushing for a trade are delusional; they want an All-star at each position... They think if we keep drafting players, we're bound to hit on one. Just ask Sac and Orl how that philosophy works. Wood is a good young talent, that provides consistent double doubles.....IT WOULD BE THE TEXAN THING TO DO TO TRADE HIM!
When is the trade deadline? Early Feb? What a month and 2 weeks after Christmas? Not a lot of time to get to 6th seed. And yes I think Wood was dogging it and shooting 19% from 3 after the Nuggets game up until Silas gave in and moved him to the 5. That stretch of games may have sunk our battleship. Now I just want the Rockets to: 1) win as many games as they can 2) get Wood, House, Gordon, Nwaba off the team ( Wall if possible ) 3) get our young players some playoff experience 4) use our draft picks to move up in the draft (including any from upcoming trades....tankaton currently has us as #4 & #23)
Dude... they both play the center position. If u were a true rockets supporter ud know that Wood sucks at the 4 and that the 2 big line up has been a failure. Its time to trade Wood
