they're just as good as last year led by their backcourt. A lot of people recognize jellyfam Jahvon Quinerly from social media. But Bama has extremely good guard play. This is a marquee matchup for sure.
Great game but I hate to say it, Sampson blew that one! YOU GO GET THE BASKET!! You had 20 second on the clock, your team was rebounding the ball at a high clip, you could've easily had a put back.
I think it was a goaltend. fck. Either way, we pretty good again Shead is really turning into a leader this season. Massive improvement from last year.
What was very impressive was Quinerly's sense of timing. He made every right move, scoring to stop momentum each and every time he really needed to do it. That's something you don't even see at the nba level. He controlled the game when he wanted to control it. This was a great game though. Both teams really hitched themselves to what they do well. Sasser was fantastic, but once again, he dribbled off his leg in the closing moments. I hate to say it, but that is going to rear itself again in the tournament at the wrong time. He does it so often it's just part of his game. All said though, we can live with it, because he carried the team again and was there for the team all night. Obvious critical errors - Shead TO's late - Roberts missing 4 pt on FT late - That 4 pt play was brutal.
Lost to wisconsin by 2 and bama by 1 Once again our poor free throw shooting came back to bite us in the dick
I'm not gonna say that goaltend cost us the game (ball wasn't gonna go in but it was a violation by the letter of the law), because a game that close is made up of dozens of almosts and maybes in the aggregate. Alabama is good but Houston would beat them in a series (same with Wisconsin btw). Been that way since day 1 with Sampson. Free throw shooting is so fundamental, I cannot believe they are this consistently bad at it. His teams about hustle and defense, which is admirable, but you can't have guys going to the line and instantly firing up line-drive bricks without even so much as taking a breath or bending their knees.
UH was a genuine threat to win the entire tournament with Sasser this year. Yes they really were that good. They are still good but losing Sasser is a huge loss.
Welp, it will be nearly impossible to run the ncaa table without Sasser. He's nearly the entire offense. The only saving grace is that most of the NCAA is no better than we are so we should still have fun.
