I’ve wavered back and forth but I think trading him would be best at this point. I think Sengun is your big of the future and Wood is only going to get in the way of him fully developing. Wood doesnt seem like the best pairing with Sengun with the way he plays.

Even with no Sengun, Wood isn’t a guy I’d pay big money to.

Take away the 20/10 and are Rockets even close?

Rockets desperately need a legit PG.

Porter by himself is not enough.

A PF that can switch onto 5's without the arena screaming "mouse in the house".

If we are tanking, please play young players as much as possible. Playing veterans so much is meaningless.

That's where I'm getting to too. Wood sees himself as a budding all star. When close games end in a loss he complains about wanting the ball every possession down the stretch. He doesn't move the ball around enough, and on offense needs the spacing of shooters to be productive. A lineup with him, Sengun, and Tate puts him with too many non-shooters on the court.

I think peak Wood on a contending team is somewhere close to John Collins. A 2nd or 3rd option that gets 11-12 shots per game and averages 15 with 35-40% 3p shooting with 9-11 rb per game.

In any case, it's obvious that Sengun can't get the minutes he deserves because of Wood or Tate, and Garuba's return from injury will make this problem worse. I would not be upset if we kept Wood, but if we can get some real value for him at the deadline I wouldn't be mad to see him go and flourish elsewhere. This team is at the start of a rebuild that will come to fruition in 2023 and needs another season of developmental lineup decisions, and that means that Wood's minutes at some point will have to take a hit in order to further that development and give younger players court time (just as we're doing now with Gordon).

I also think at some point we're going to have some hard decisions to make about Tate. I love Tate as a player, but I think he's proving to either be PJ Tucker-type on a stellar starting 5 with tons of offensive firepower, or a reserve who gives the team a spark with great defense and scoring. The reason I think the bench role is probably where he's a bigger value add long term is his 3-point shooting. As limited at PJ Tucker was offensively, he could knock down a corner 3 with the best of them. Tate's lack of 3 point shooting can really frustrate our offensive flow, both for him and the other players on the court.

Rockets not hurting for offense. Especially if Green and Sengun pan out.

Simmons is pure defense, rebounding, playmaking, finishing and extra possessions via disruptions.

    It's called complementary basketball.

Good game, tough one, but we fought, really need KPJ back to solidify starting unit.

Sitting Gordon means we were afraid of winning this game and wanted to tank.

Buckle up CF, more Theis coming up next few games.

    Silas is too predictable.

And FYI, Cavs start THREE bigs:

    JA
    Mobley
    Markkanen

We play Theis and we lose. Coincidence? I think not. Stone must be having buyers remorse, trying to showcase him for a trade at the expense of our win.

Stephen Silas said he was very encouraged seeing how well Christian Wood and Alperen Sengun played when both were on the floor. "It's good because that's something we can build on."

23 minutes, 15 pts, 6 assists, 3 blocks, 5-5 FT, 1 steal, and some off the wall passes and moves tonight.

The sky is the limit for a just turned 20 year old Sengun!!!! Man I love watching him play.

We at least agree on one thing. Silas is a joke. I mean yeah it looked great that we won 7 games but I've been telling everyone it was fools gold. The only game that impressed me was the nets game, but let's be honest, we lose that if Durant and aldridge play.

The bucks game didn't impress me like for others cuz yeah we played them close, but Silas cost us that game benching sengun the last 9 mins.

I know we need a tall 3 and d pf BAD, BUT THATS no excuse for Silas making super super super stubborn decisions almost nightly.

I've never can remember a rockets coach the past 30 yrs that was given such a long leash as Silas.

    Geez.

What about a PG who can switch onto 5s? Maybe guard the 4..

Would they send him here for Gordon and Wood?

Another frustrating aspect of Wood's game tonight which is one of his weaknesses in general: Of the 7 times he got fouled while shooting, at least 4 were GIMME and-ones. I mean, we're talking light arm fouls with him right in front of the rim. He managed to not execute a single and-one opportunity all game.

The number of bunnies he misses are crazy, I thought CC annoyed me with missed layups … Wood and KPJ top him easily
