This is a must have for DVD collectors as well as all Simpsons Freaks like myself. It's available on Tuesday... I Can't wait. This is when the true renaissance of the series truly begans in the opinion of most simpsons die-hards. I love the Simpsons, but I see them daily on tv so I have never bothered to buy a season dvd. Season four will probably be the first one I buy.
Now I dont know if its a misprint or not, but in the paper today, I saw at Wherehouse Music, they have the first 3 seasons of the Simpsons on DVD for $10 after rebate ($15-5 mail-in rebate). If its true, thats frekkin outrageous for that price. I paid $35 each when they first came out. For the curious out there.
Cool, I have the first three. They are good but I have also heard that the middle seasons are better.
I can understand this. One thing I didn't realize, however, until after I bought the DVDs of the first two seasons (still need to get season 3), was how many jokes were cut out of each episode in syndication, presumably to make time constraints. There's some great stuff I had totally forgotten even happened since it had been so long since I had seen a non-syndicated episode.
Season 4 contains some of my absolute favorite episodes, including Monorail and Mr. Plow. I can't think of one that I didn't like, and it's hard to say that about pretty much any season in any series.
The only thing I hate is how long the wait is between seasons. They need to get this on a quicker cycle. I'd give up commentaries and extras for a faster release schedule.
Yeah tell me about it, If they would cut out all the commentaries (although they are great) and released them every 4-6 months or so it would be ideal.
