Knox and Issac are still projects and can be obtained for 2nds and a player. It's a roll of the dice with them. Precious is the type of player you may have to trade #1 pick for. OG and Siakam are players I think we can pkg future draft picks and players for. You don't need to start with Wood, you put players around Wood, Sengun, Green and Porter. We have other assets, how do you think we got Sengun?[/QUOTE]
I think you need to pair Wood and Sengun. When Sengun's 3pt shot gets better, then you can inject him into the starting lineup.
Porter, Theis, Gordon, House, Nwaba, & Augustin should all be moved for anything that is a net positive, ASAP. Green, Tate, & Wood can go, too, if the price is right. Really the only it got to be The Godfather of all deals to move is Sengun.
There's no way you're implying the Nets missing Durant is the same as the Rockets missing any amount of our current roster. No way.
Who exactly are we talking about here?!? Jaren Jackson Jr? There's not exactly a long list of "young veteran 6'10 athletes who can run shoot the 3 and defend"
Yes you could have played Lowry with AB too, but Lowrys game didn’t take off until they traded AB. How is Sengun’s game any better with Wood playing a role as a floor spacing pf? How is Wood any better if you are more of the Princeton/corner sets where Sengun is killing it as a passer out of the corners? Turning either of those two into PJ Tucker makes them substantially worse. I like Wood too but you gotta come down to reality at some point. We aren’t winning a title with Wood as our superstar foundation.
Yes! I'm not implying they're better than KD, just that they mean as much to the Rockets as KD means to the Nets.
No way you could've played AB and Lowry together....they were too small! If you heard Wood's presser after the N.O's game he said they are working on playing together in practice. They are working on playing through Sengun, since he is the better passer. Like I said, when Sengun gets better at the 3pt line, they will be able to spread the court and play with two bigs.
Has nothing to do with glass half full or empty, 50% from 3 is not sustainable over 60 more games, you can tell me anything but this. And there is a good chance the opponent will be shooting way better too. He never said the Rockets will have a losing record, he only said everything will cool off to normal. Might take a month or so and not 2 weeks.
Depending on what you get back, trades should always be within your timeline. I’d trade Gordon and Green for De’Aaron Fox right now.
I swear it's comedic how this forum goes from "tear it up, burn it down, we need a new owner, we need a new coach, we need better players!" to looking for playoff tickets.
It's crazy how fast they were able to culminate SO much young talent. Martin last man in the draft, Porter for a conditional 2nd. Tate a flyer free agent contract. What looks like FOUR solid 1st round picks? That's unheard of man. Mathews, Brooks on 2 ways? Wood even though he got paid to come here and has been demonstrative/talking about max dollars/having fragile ankles. The acquisition of youth has been hit after hit for 2 years straight and it's incredible. Plus, if you're looking at the cap situation, what is obviously a wrecked roster dollar-wise THIS year becomes pretty freaking favorable next year. And even if the only thing you get out of Wall's contract is cap relief the outlook for 23-24 is downright rosy counting on losing that contract and having this wealth of youth on their 3rd year of what should then be a strong chemistry and potential turning into production. Like, 23-24 potential lineups: Christopher-Green-Gordon-Martin-Sengun Brooks-Nwaba-Garuba-Theis With like 74 million to blow making decisions on Wood, Augustin, Porter and Tate (and probably Mathews), maybe a free agent... not to mention the 4 1sts in between now and then (which I guess you can just slam dunk all of if the last 2 years have any indication) and the absolute trove of future picks that would be at Stone's disposal. And, whatever possibility is offered in trade for Gordon (unless he's just having fun being the old hat on a rising young team that he helped grow, making his cool 20 million). Being off the Morey treadmill of seeming like there were no assets left, there would never be young talent, the only hope of improvement was buyout markets to this? In like 15 months? Things seem like they would have to go WAY south for there not to be playoff level teams ahead. Not saying it's not possible. Not saying chips are on the way. I'm saying it's a great feeling to know the arrow is pointed up and may even have some Rocket boosters connected to it.
And all of those assets are tradeable. People who fall in love with picks or 19-year-olds are crazy. Our best players are in the 23-26 year-old-range. Make trades to move the rebuild up 2-3 years. Why watch crap for multiple seasons hoping it turns to gold? Cash your chips in.
