I knew this NBA conspiracy is true now. When Detroit wins 88-68 and they show Lakers 88-68 on the screen and Al Michaels says "Lakers win 88-68" Anyone who recorded or Tivo-ed the end of the game will hear this. Its like its scripted.
What disrepect to Detroit! Someone at a bar who's just glancing at the screen would think the Lakers won.
I know if I just turned on the TV at the end of the game and saw that I would be pissed, but then feel better when i saw the real score
I think the radio announcers were drunk tonight. With 5 minutes left in 3rd q, and Detroit up by 16, the color guy goes "What time do the bars close around here? Poke a stick in this game, its over. First round is on me." And the other guy starts going "wait, there's a lot of time left" And the color guy is going "nahhhh...this game is done. Malone is out, Kobe is a non factor..." and then he starts dicking on Cook. He sounded slurry. Pretty amusing.
Al Michaels..... I normally like his announcing, but in this series it's been awefull. He's like this: "Kobe Bryant for three!!!.... GOT IT!!!!!" ... "Hamilton makes the three" I'ts quite obvious who he wants to win. -- droxford
You should figure it when any time they are on ABC there is always something wrong with the Fakers when they are loosing...ala Kobe in court, this person hurt blah blah. Never is it...hey lets give credit to the team that's kicking the crap out of them.
Yeah i made this comment before in another thread. I was really happy when Byron Scott stepped up and said "wait a minute lets stop talking about what the lakers are doing wrong and lets talk about how good the Pistons are playing" Brought a nice smile to my face.
Yeah, but at the end of the game the screen and Al Michaels said the Lakers won 88-68. This is not some magically database error where the scorer on ABC manually turns the numbers so they show up on the screen. This reminds me of Sports Illustrated printing out the KNICKS CHAMPIONSHIP issue and not having one for the Rockets until Houston fans threatened them. I hope Detroit treats Kobe like he treated that girl in Colorado.
I didn't hear/see the final score mistake, but it doesn't surprise me. I noticed something very similar earlier in the game... In the first half, as they're cutting to a commercial, he said, "Lakers by s... errr... Lakers down by six." It's a simple mistake, but something about his tone of voice betrayed where his head was at.... like good news vs. bad news.
Yeah i remember that time. I had a subscription and they didn't even put us on the front cover that we had won. So so many people from houston called in and demanded to cancel their subscriptions, so that's when the decided to print up the little special issue that they sent out to everyone that had a subscription in Houston. Pretty sad.
Michaels is a great (maybe very good) game caller but he continously showed a reckless lack of concentration in this finals series by repeatedly misrepresenting events and actions within the game. Maybe he should focus on football full time. :hint:
I saw that too and actually it has been shown around the world because I saw it from a TV program (tape) in Thailand. They showed the news about the match. I glanced at it and saw the score as Laker 88, Piston 68. I almost thought that they had already compete on game 4 since I know the result of game 3.
Did yall see what he just did, Kobe got a T and when they showed the replay Al started acting like he was getting another one
hmmm...did he just try to do it again? 88-80 detroit and al goes "detroit...80......" Good thing he fixed himself.
i'm not even going to acknowledge that this guy is al michaels. it's a bad r****ded clone of al michaels...a derivative if you will. a lower quality version of the man that does hockey and football so well. this man...is someone..or someTHING else. and doc rivers....now i know he can perform 3 different types of jobs with a high amount of suckage---player,coach, and commentator.
I've noticed that Al Michaels was doing that and it really annoys me when a broadcaster rides the coattail of the favorite team. Late in the game when Detroit was pulling away he was just kind of blowing it off. When the Lakers were pulling away in overtime in Game 2 he was getting excited and pumped. Uneven broadcasting like that just kills the flow of the game when you're watching it.
