With Maxey's emergence this year as the starting PG, the Sixers need more wing/forward help/depth than another guard. They have Curry (who is basically McCollum but at a 1/4 of the price) and Maxey starting, they still have Thybulle, Korkmaz, Shake Milton and Green, who can slide into the shooting guard position as needed.

Blazers Resisted Urging From Damian Lillard's Camp To Trade CJ McCollum, Picks For Ben Simmons

Damian Lillard and his camp reportedly have been thwarted by the Portland Trail Blazers on multiple leverage plays over the past few months.

Lillard's camp sought Jason Kidd as head coach and also wanted to trade CJ McCollum and four first round picks for Ben Simmons.

Lillard's camp also lost confidence that Neil Olshey and ownership would be willing to sign him to an extension this summer worth $107 million over two years.

Damian Lillard's Camp Selling Idea Of Extension With Blazers, Trading Vets With Value

Damian Lillard would like to sign a two-year, $107 million extension with the Portland Trail Blazers in July, and he and his agent will need the franchise's next general manager to sell ownership on the idea.

Lillard is already owed $48.8 million in 2024-25, and a new contract would pay him $51 million at 35 years old and $55 million at 36.

Lillard's camp is privately selling the idea of trading his veteran teammates with value to rebuild around him on the new extension.

76ers Haven't Had Interest In CJ McCollum

The Philadelphia 76ers have consistently sought a legitimate star such as Damian Lillard in exchange for Ben Simmons, which has meant that a second tier star such as CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers hasn't been of interest.

"My reporting is Philly has really never gotten anywhere in terms of being interested in McCollum. Philly has just been 'Dame or nothing,'" said Zach Lowe on his podcast on Tuesday.

"Unless, you know there's been these reports about three picks, or three pick swaps, or blah, blah, blah. I don't know how real that ever was, but I don't think there's ever been any real traction to this point of Philly wanting CJ McCollum."

That man has gone crazy. He let all the superstar talk get to his head. He was never that. Get traded to the Lakers already.

"I'm not asking for a trade," Lillard told reporters Wednesday. "I don't know how many times I have to say it. It's gotten to a point in this era that people can write stories and say things and 'I heard this and I heard that' and because of who they are, people take as, like, this is credible, this is probably true. Me, on the other hand, I don't feel like I have to defend myself against that and come out and challenge everything that people say until I'm asked about it because I know the truth, you know what I mean?

I sit in the office with Chauncey every day, and we're trying to find solutions, and dealing with these people every day when I walk in this practice facility trying to find solutions. Why would I be a part of trying to find solutions if I'm planning on an exit, you know what I'm saying? That's not what's going on.

But people want that so bad. It's a good story and it's a good thing to talk about that and they know people are going to entertain it so they continue with it, but my intentions are to be in Portland and figure it out. That's as far I know all of our intentions, and I also know that people are going to continue to have these same conversations because it's fun to talk about, but that **** is not accurate."

Can they just stop it with all the attention towards Dame? He’s not even good enough to warrant it

if he wants to stay and Portland and lose, then by all means…go ahead

Dame just had his best game of the season. A few more games like that, and the Blazers FO might want to think about selling high.

Going to strip clubs, party with rappers, throwing honey buns around.

That is the modern way to have a fulfilling career.

Winning, rings and chips only matter to true superstars. Why would anyone outside the top 5 stars in the league care about legacy. You’ll be forgotten in the future. If I was a star but not superstar I’d just be chasing the bag and building my brand with False proclamations of loyalty more than caring about winning a chip. More to life than a game.
