Yankees or Dodgers ain’t signing Correa outside of possibly Philly, who is going to give him 10 years? Is he overplaying his hand, or is he being blackballed?
Very likely means Contreras will be traded. Astros could be interested there although I consider it unlikely.
Angels or the Mets. He’s not being black-balled… but he is looking for the biggest possible payday and teams are weighing their options. He’s probably also looking to go to some place that can be in position to win for the foreseeable future (not the Rangers or Marlins).
I think there’s a zero chance Astros acquire another catcher. I expect Korey Lee being up in 2022. Maldy/Castro are fine guys to help him develop behind the plate.
It doesn’t seem like that long ago when Odor was an Astros nemesis. I’d have guessed he was 30 then. That’s around the time when casuals in the game threads were convinced Nomar Mazara was a better prospect then Carlos Correa.
More than I would have wanted Houston to give him but that has potential to be a good deal for Boston. Paxton is an ace when he is able to pitch.
Saw some updates on CBA negotiations, seems like things are trending toward these results: Extremely likely: Expanded playoffs, between 10-14 teams Universal DH Increased luxury tax threshold, between $10M and $30M Ads on jerseys Likely but details unknown: Changes to how free agency is determined to solve service time manipulation issue Allowable sticky substances or presticky balls International draft Rules changes: pitch clock, etc. Possible: Realignment/Expansion Payroll floor Increase to league minimum salary Removal of penalty for signing QO free agents Won’t be addressed but should be: Out of market TV viewing/eliminating blackouts Earlier west coast start times Fewer pitching changes Minor league salaries
