Are we just going to ignore the play of Garrison Mathews?

Robert Horry was traded to Detroit in a deal for Sean Elliott. Elliott failed the
physical and it nixed the deal.

Horry in an interview was sad about the Rockets wanting to trade him.
Says he asked Rudy T what he needs to do to stick around?

Rudy T told him shoot the 3. The offense is designed to go to Olajuwon in
the post....kicked out to an open shooter beyond the 3-pt line. If the defense
rotates in time, then someone else is open.

If you are that open man then shoot the ball. The play design worked.
Make, miss or draw (blocked) shoot the 3.

This is the issue I've had with Tate. Unwilling to shoot it. But shooting is contagious.
For slumps and for the rest catching fire. Mathews willingness to shoot it has
awoken Brooks, House, E Gordon, and Tate. Everyone is feeling better about themselves.

Nathan Fogg noted in his most recent thread than teams were packing the paint
and leaving our 3-point shooters open. Showed still photos and/or video evidence.
Now teams have to respect our 3-point shooting as now those shots are going down.

Now the Pick-n-Roll can work proper like. Now the Silas offense can run better.
Are some 3's forced? Possibly....but I can't say they are completely out of the scheme
of the offense. Not for sure.

You always want players to compete without the ball in their hands and he does a good job at that. All of his points come from playing in the system and not having to create on his own. I hope a few more players understand that concept and we’ll be fine.

Stone has his weak points but you can't ignore his ability to find cheap talent. (Tate, KMJ, Matthews, KPJ)

Virtually any NBA team has one or two guys for finding cheap talents, it is nothing rare.

You just kick the can down the road far enough until one is worth it.

Tough nosed player. Great glue guy. I'd definitely entertain the idea of him being a core piece moving forward.

He plays taller than he's listed, can shoot, box out, cut to the basket.
With Green and KP struggling to knock down shots, he's been heaven 'cent' like my 1996 penny poster.

It's night and day in terms of form on either side. From the left side he's squaring up like you should but from the right side he turns his body into the shot. Very weird to say the least.

Count me as a fan. Constant hustle and hits his open outside shots. We need more of this on the team.

He's playing good enough to be in rotation in the last 3 games. If he keeps this up, he's a keeper.

I'll also add that there were 2 Houston Texans scouts in attendance trying to convince him he should play for them.(ok that didn't happen but the holy ink is legit)

With Gary and Brooks on the court at the same time, running around screens and launching, it may be the first time in my 20 years of watching Rockets basketball that I feel like we have a good shooting lineup.

Those shots coming off of screens at the top of the key ..... those are plays designed to get him (actually Green) an open shot.

We only saw that twice in the game Green went down in , they haven't run that action with Mathews since.

If I recall correctly Theis was the pick setter in both instances.

I think Silas took that page out of the playbook. We won't see that play unless EG is getting the shot .... or Green once he returns.

I’ll ask in here. When Green comes back, who goes to the bench?
    Mathews?
    Gordon?
    Green?
    Who’s minutes decrease?
