These guys have not earned enough to have so much free will. Where is Silas nuts at? Trash coach/nice guy but damn. I know imo who is the right fit/best coach. They need a leader a sturn one at that. Someone like Sampson would be ideal because most of these guys are college age anyway. And you’re right, the pouting and not getting back on defense would stop immediately. No way he’s going to allow that. But Sampson has a good gig and I don’t think he’s going to give that up at his age. Maybe if he was younger, but it wouldn’t make much sense for him to do it right now. He’s got a good thing going and he knows it. Someone like that would be interesting though.
Remember harden didn't want silas to b hc and the org ignore him anyways. Lot of folks praise the org for doing that. Who is to blame for this hiring?
This issue is starting to appear in the national sports news. Check Yahoo Sports today. Frankly, I feel sorry for Silas. He seems like such a nice person. But he just looks out of place. Apparently, HC is not the role for him. I think he and the Rockets need to face the obvious and move on.
its not all his fault. stone put together a seriously flawed roster. there's no shooters, no playmakers, and a logjam at center. there was no reason to sign thies or nwaba. also no reason to sit wall to be honest. its not like KPJ deserves to start over him, not like he couldn't get minutes as a PG behind him. having vets like wall and wood act as main scoring options makes things easier for green and KPJ to develop. the defenses won't be focused on them. i think silas would've been a good coach for harden and rus. but the young guys need more structure, he needs to run some set plays, and he needs to stop trying to win games with thies and nwaba. lean into playing the rookies a lot of minutes even if they lose games people will understand. developing rookies might not be Silas' calling card which is why he seems like a poor fit right now, but I believe he can do it. he and stone can both fix this mess.
He played Sengun 24 minutes. Getting better. Now just never play him less than 20 minutes again. Ever.
