Oftentimes, we’ll play well in the first half and the (opponent) will be ramped up to play us in the second half. We need to meet that challenge. Our preparation going into the second half needs to be better as a group. “Teams are definitely forcing us to shoot more 3s and packing the paint and all that stuff, daring us at times to shoot. That’s part of it.” The diagnosis is good, if somewhat basic. My proposed solution for this is to start the second half with Sengun on the floor. He's used to playing within systems (sadly lacking with the Rockets for now) and he has a knack for finding ways to score or facilitate scoring. Even though he's an NBA rookie, he has much more experience in playing under pressure than most of our roster. Add to this his natural levelheadedness and you have a natural floor general who has fresh legs for at least 12 min.s of playing time. In short: A controlled, half-court-offense start to the 2nd half with Sengun will give us a better chance at competing and make the games more enjoyable.
OP, I'll see your "Let's start Sengun in the 2nd half" and raise you "Let's just start Sengun, period."
Stop taking ill advised 3’s- Get House off the floor- No Wood or Ego ISO’s- More Sengun- Make your damm free throws!!!! take care of the f****n ball!!!!!
Wood and Gordon's ISO numbers this year aren't that bad. Both are around the 68th percentile in the league on ISO plays (not surprisingly Sengun is 92nd percentile). It's their starting backcourt that is doing poorly in those situations (30th for Green and 11th for Porter). Gordon's issue is that he's turning over the ball in ISO situations at about a 25% clip.
Hey, baby steps people, baby steps. We don't want to scare li'l Stephen do we now? Starting Sengun in the 2nd half is not a threat to The Pro.
If 20 years of being an assistant coach can't prepare you for virtually every situation then you're probably not head coaching material. That's not a bad thing because there are only a select few who can excel in an NBA head coaching gig.
3rd quarter adjustments, play your best players more, play your worst players less.... even those who are "starters" for non-basketball reasons
"Stone walked onto the practice court to preach defensive philosophy, sources said, and is known to consult players on tactical improvements." hmmmmm, sounds pretty crazy... but i dunt feel that's his first time step onto the practice court how about this one edit: you could even find out Stephen in the clip...lol
