Not compaeimg any specific rookie to another, but Sengun is doin well as a rookie compared to his draft class.in general
They're trying to not have to eat the contract and/or give up a pick to trade him away so I assume they believe benching him would make that a higher chance of becoming a reality. That's the only explanation albeit a bad one.
Cade having a *rough* night tonight. His issues are worse than Jalen's. No explosion so he can't drive past his man, can't shoot and his turnover issues have carried over into the NBA. If Cade was here he'd already be labeled a bust.
12 games in and his overall field goal percentage and 3 point percentage is lower than Jalen Green’s. Jalen Suggs’s percentages are also lower than Green. As poorly as Green has shot the ball overall, both of these other top 5 picks have been somehow even worse. Cade Cunningham 12 games - 34.1% fg and 24.4% 3fg Jalen Suggs 17 games - 32.4% fg and 25.0% 3fg Jalen Green 17 games - 37.2% fg and 27.4% 3fg
I know but that's so boring. Green is going to be the best player eventually, no one will outwork him trust me. This kid is tough as nails on the inside. Handling adversity really well if you ask me, given what he can control. Kelly Iko - who has great contacts within the rockets organization - said that the rockets are prioritizing KPJ's development over Green. That means Green right now just has to be the best complimentary player to KPJ he can be, which is like a Klay Thompson type of player - obviously a player any star would want to play with. He's not good at those things, but he's gotten better at them. He was well prepared for an NBA preseason game let's say. Once the starting lineups stabilizes and Green improves off the ball, watch him take off.
Why do you say that? To me he looks like a kid who is more interested in the attention he gets on InstaGram than working on his craft. His handles are below average, his shooting is below average, and his passing is average at best......the ONLY thing that is above average in this 19 year old is his athleticism...... SKILLS are more important than being a great athlete. DD
You're right. I'm overly optimistic about him. I think he has literally the worst team around him right now and they're prioritizing KPJ. I think this kid has shown flashes of a really great future and by all accounts and on the court just works hard. This rotation is only now starting to form. Let's talk again at roughly game 28 when he goes on a run and someone here still finds a way to minimize it. I think he just needs his chance and it's coming. They just don't feature him that much (he wants it).
I respect your opinion but I might have to agree to think differently. Kelly Iko does have good contacts but I am not seeing KPJ as a priority over Green but rather as an asset that has an expiry date and the organization has given KPJ a fair warning that he has to get his game straight and develop - right now he is a negative in efficiency. I abstain from the Green Gang vs Other players conversation - you can have it. I am nore of a SF, PG and PF guy. I have seen too many players with work ethic, not saying it is not important, but that is hardly a criterion that really stands out to me but if you are right, I will give you credit for sure. The Rockets have too many holes that one scorer that is not a triple threat and a lacking defender, can fill to be honest with you.
Where do people get this nonsense? Why is that true? What evidence do you have? If he was such a hard and dedicated worker and no one can possibly out work him, how the F did he get to the NBA with so many flaws in his game?
I guess that shows the benefit of being a 2 way player, look at their on-off spits to show their benefit or detriment to their teams.... Jalen Suggs +3.2 Cade Cunningham +1.2 Jalen Green -31.9
I’ve never seen someone tether themselves to one singular statistic like you do with plus and minus, but if nothing else, you’re consistent. Nobody can say that you aren’t that lol. I haven’t looked at Cade yet, but if we look at some other advanced stats, Jalen Green has a higher offensive rating than Jalen Suggs and their defensive rating is identical. Jalen Green has a higher PER, efg% ts%, box plus minus, win share %, win share 48, and value over replacement player (VORP). The caveat being they’ve both been bad overall, but Suggs has definitely been worse. The stat you provided somehow suggests that Suggs has been the best of these 3 players. Without even looking, I’m sure Cade beats Green in several of those categories and a few others.
He and KPJ don't fit, basically both are much better WITHOUT the other one on the floor. IMHO, they will need to choose one......and KPJ is 6'6" and Green is 6'3" - both are pretty raw, and both are really young. Maybe they will get it one day, but the issue right now, is that both are pretty crap playing off the ball. DD
I've posted several different ones....There's simply not any that paint Green in a positive light. Also, you realize when I am talking about his on-off numbers, it's talking about offensive rating......the same thing you are talking about. When Jalen Green is on the court he destroys the offensive rating of the team AND the defensive rating of the team. The second he goes to the bench, the team gets a massive boost to their offensive rating and defensive rating.....that's all I was showing. If I wanted to talk about TPA, it has Jalen Green as the 2nd worst player in the NBA behind only Jalen Suggs. If we talk about VORP, it shows that he's the worst player on the worst team in the league. Given how bad he looks across the board, AND how the stats show how much he negatively impacts his own team, it's hard to suggest that there's a worse player in the NBA. The stats I showed suggests that while Suggs individual stats are worse, him being awful doesn't harm his team as much as the other two being awful does. In short, Green is the most detrimental to his own team of any rookie in this class.....but I think we can blame that on SIlas. No rookie as absolutely terrible at basketball as Green is has any business starting and playing heavy minutes. If he was coming off the bench for short minutes, he wouldn't be hurting his team as much.
I’ll come back and read this. Preparing something for tomorrow. The main focus of my post initially was I just trying to point out that he was not alone as a perimeter player from this draft with shooting woes. Seems like the majority of the perimeter players drafted this year have struggled shooting the ball so far. I don’t think it’s grounds for an overreaction just yet.
What do you mean? I don't understand this post. Very few teams play two bigs. Winning teams do not play two bigs. And if your team is going to play two bigs, as this team has decided to, you're going to need to find a better fit than Wood and Theis.
We clearly aren't winning with 2 bigs either.... The main goal should be to develop the young guys, and we're putting KPJ, Jalen, and even Wood in **** situations by giving them little to no room to work with on offense, while not playing KMJ and Sengun as much as they need or deserve
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/te...fael-Stone-likes-his-new-four-on-16351709.php Let me guess - you're another guy who could do Stones job better than Stone amiright? SMH. You guys are bad at gaslighting. Jalen Greens workout exploits are stuff of legend. I doubt you'll take the time to educate yourself on the matter and Im not going to spoon feed you either. Your mind is made up and thats fine, but stop acting confused and disconnected when you dont even challenge yourself enough to learn about the very thing that you are questioning.
It's not really that much of a "stat", really, it just shows that the team is getting beat up worse with JG on the floor than when he is off-the-floor... which is what I care about personally. It's not the case for the other two rookies. Does +/- give you the full picture if a player is good or bad? Probably not. But as a Rockets fan, I don't care about individual players assessments. I simply like players with positive +/- because when they play my team is getting ahead. The more positive +/- players we have the higher chance my team will be winning. It's that simple. You can make all the qualifiers about context, teammates, etc... And there's probably something to it. That's why I have been saying that JG needs to be coming off the bench, maybe playing with different teammates and against other team's bench would be a positive. But right now having to watch a player with pathetic +/- splits (as per @harold bingo and others) only brings-up negative emotions in me, simply because I am a Houston Rockets fan. For all y'all JG fanbois +/- may not be a valid measure, but for me it is the only one I care about.
