How does it work over at Westside? Does anyone ever get in to give us reports from practice. Is there an usual time for pick-up games that you could take a kid over to watch the Mercedes' roll by? Where is the info?? I actually live less than 2 miles away from westside and have probably unknowingly seen players drive by. how can i get in to watch, and where is more info ------------------
I started it twice because I changed my mind and wanted the title to be interogatory so that someone with the information might respond. I couldn't delete the first topic but it was rapidly dropping off the first page anyway. I live less than 5 minutes from Westside and I Big Brother a couple of little Rocketheads that would get a kick out watching their heroes cruise in for summer pick-up games. All except Cato anyway because he is on vacation from all his hard work last year. ------------------ consciousness is the awareness of awareness
ok...i live walking distance away from westside also. So can you go in there to see their pick-up games or not? Also, do you know any places to play in that area other than ashford and briar hills? ------------------
Does any one know any inside info? ------------------ "Instinctly u recognize things, now take advantage of what u just recognized!".. Hakeem..
I actually live across the street from the Westside tennis club and sometimes during the regular season I have seen Rockets going in for practice. I have also Nick Van Exel go there a couple times but it was during the off season. The only time I tried to watch a pick up game a couple years ago they (Westsiode administration) said you have to be a member, so you can't see them play or practice. ------------------ Young Gunz! Nearly all pick up games with pros are restricted to players and staff of the club. Members of the club are occassionally allowed in the basketball areas and members of the media are allowed in at specific times. The general public is not allowed in the gym during games. I checked with Westside. Sorry. ------------------ How the hell should I know why God would allow the Holocaust. I don't even know how the electric can opener works. - from Hannah and Her Sisters
Jeff, it certainly makes sense that Matress Mac wouldn't just open the doors to his private club to the general public. It's a different world than when Hakeem and Moses used to sweat like the rest of us in the unairconditioned Fonde. But still I thought there might be a regular time that the Rockets players and all the NBA players that work out in Houston might pass through the public right-of way that a kid might get a glimps, a wave or even an autograph. (although I for one have never understood the mania for having a signiture of someone famous) ------------------ consciousness is the awareness of awareness
Hey also, the original intent of this post was to find out if we get any posts from someone with access to the workouts. Like whose working hard , who is lazy, who is who's b**** etc. I'm just real anxiuos to get reports on the new boys, how they look against professional competition. ------------------ consciousness is the awareness of awareness
Gene, You'd be luckier heading out to Fonde. Westside is the official Rocket's practice facility, from what I've heard/seen, most pickup games are played at Fonde, which is also an excellent basketball facility to check out. ------------------ The title will come to ClutchCity once again.
They don't usually start their summer league until late July or early August, so you can figure on then for hanging out to get a glimpse. Fonde still is cool for local guys but it isn't often home to pros from all over the place playing organized ball. Fonde does occassionally have pickup games with pros, college and high school guys who live in Houston though. ------------------ How the hell should I know why God would allow the Holocaust.
