If he continues to miss I won't like his shots but I think he's a good enough shooter to justify them in the long run

He reminds me of "Rocky". Takes a hit and keeps coming back at you.

He's a really good shooter, still trying to find his rhythm.

Love his attitude, hustle and bbiq. Moves the ball quickly, decisive. He's not a great athlete, but he's the kind of player every team can use.

House showed promise a few years ago, but has regressed. He's likely a throw in as part of a deal or should be riding the pine.

Really like a 2nd unit with Sengun, Martin, Armstrong and Matthews.

Scouting report says good vertical but lateral quickness isn’t elite.
Seems to be a good leaper and straight line speed is solid

Anyone who's willing to take charges, you'd go to war with. Every team needs that one fiery dude

So far he is what the Rockets were hoping for with Armoni Brooks

Threat of hitting bulk amount of 3-pointers while taking some charges.

Now if the Rockets can get both of them going and actually hot from 3.
This can be a really good thing. Finally the spacing needed.

Armoni Brooks was the first rookie to hit 60 three's in his first 20 gms....
and his first game was 3 minutes.

I like Mathews because he plays like he chased 2 red bulls with some cocaine right before tip-off

He is the best most NBA ready SG on the roster at this moment.

I actually think Mathews might be just what Silas needs since he plays hard and shares the ball and that does set an example for the team and lets other guys know their spot isn't safe if they can bring someone in off the street to put in minutes at 2-3

With that said...he's at least better than House, not saying much but if Mathews playing means House gets less minutes then I'm here for it.

Most teams in the league today average over 3 point attempts per game. Some of the best shoot over 40. Right now, we're playing without a single good 3 point shooter in our starting lineup, and maybe two on the entire team. Matthews is probably the best we have right now (much better shooting off the pass and getting his shot off quickly than Gordon and Brooks), which speaks volumes about the roster and what we're putting out nightly.

He’s the classic GARM/Rockets Twitter candidate for overreaction.

He’s going to have a hot shooting month and get compared to Klay or someone. Rockets Twitter is going to use a small sample size and be like “no one has shot better on 8.27 attempts per game while averaging more than 17.87MPG”.

I like him and he’s got moxie. But we should be happy if he’s just a solid rotation player.

My whole life I've watched Rockets games, now I may watch a quarter or two. I've been following Matthews' box scores, and he hasn't really jumped out to me. After reading all the comments, I'll start watching him more closely. He hasn't seemed terribly efficient from what I've seen.

True, but he knows how to play D and how to play O - he is not lost on either end.

Hey, if more Mathews means less House, I will help pay his salary.

The only shots I've seen him take are wide open 3's for the most part and those are shots you have to take in this offense.

He sure aint afraid to let it fly ..... but if he were to pass on many of the shots he's taken that would be mistakes that screw up the offense.
