I’ve been going through the images sent back from the rovers on Mars and I thought i’d put together a collage of some of the stranger formations that have been photographed (some were first noticed by others). It’s really amazing how the power of erosion and tricks of light can create the illusion (in some cases) of past and present life. A number of of these pictures are definitely just interesting optical tricks and erosion, but I think a few could generate legitimate discussion on their origins. JPL rover mission images
My image host resized the picture a bit so some of the smaller things are a little hard to see now, but there's plenty of wild stuff to check out at the JPL site. I think a lot of people hardly realize these rovers are still cruising around Mars ~ Nasa's PR department needs some work.
I can't wait for the Cassini spacecraft to reach Saturn next month. Those pictures should be awesome as well. http://saturn.jpl.nasa.gov/index.cfm They are promising close ups of Saturn's rings. Should be awesome. I love NASA!
Wild image of the bottom of Endurance crater ~ the Opportunity rover is about to make a decent down into the crater to do a little science and hopefully not take a tumble on the loose sand and rock. ________________ I think I might have been better off titling this thread "Lindsey Lohan's boobs photographed on Mars" ~ just a thought...
