yes, but...That begs the question of what happened to Mack toward the end of his UT stint. I'm a total outsider and don't know the timeline, but will take a guess that things like bringing in Nick Saben for an interview caused a 'well FY' reaction.
I think that is probably the case. Rumors I've read over the years suggest that Mack flipped out when he learned that Saban was being courted and decided to not go quietly. I'd imagine that was due to hurt feelings and a stubbornness to acknowledge that he'd lost "it" after the 2010 BCS game. Players were getting arrested in those days, Garrett Gilbert wasn't panning out (and there was no Plan B for that) and he wasn't recruiting as well as he had in the past. Then he got blown out against BYU and the writing was on the wall. Colt's shoulder is really the skeleton key for the last decade of Texas football.
I think Mack's recruiting style didn't fit well with the coming age of social media. It only takes a couple disappointing years for UT fans to start poisoning the well and making it an undesirable location for anyone to come due to the perceived hot seat the coaching staff is on. Of course I could be wrong but that's how I see it. Also worth pointing out Mack was 1 win away from the big 12 game in his last year and since he was fired, Texas has only won more games than he did in his last 3 seasons (8 wins, 9 wins, 8 wins) once. I don't think Mack failed, I think the fans failed. UT had no choice by to axe him.
I think you're on to something here. The UT football program is marshmellow soft. I dont know what went wrong with Shaka. I thought he was a great hire. I do know if you want a tough BB team Beard was the right guy to hire. He's a great recruiter too.
I know what went wrong with Shaka He ran a guard base offense when he recruits nba centers and forwards His guards are shoot first and pass later , problem is that they can’t shoot Matt Coleman and Kerwin Roach couldn’t even make the cut in summer league Shaka’s gimmick offense doesn’t work without good guards Shaka has wasted so much nba talent it’s amazing now with Beard, we see an actual offense that’s not dumb
Coleman was a very good college PG, no shame in that. Blast from the past Kerwin Roach? Dude had as many injuries as suspensions while he was at UT. But yes, Shaka went completely against his M.O. once he got to Texas. Zero HAVOC.
Defense is very bad and very undisciplined. They dont have a QB Thompson/Card are avg college QB's at best. OL is bad. Other than that everything is peachy at 40 acres.
His "keep everything in front of you and make the tackle" defense is ****ing bullsh!t in a football world where quick passes and easy yards are the commonplace. Especially when you have ZERO passrush. Before today Overshown was tied for the team lead in sacks with 2
No Matt Coleman He sucks He lost to Abeliene Christian in the tournament And was a scrub on a summer league team We had three players drafted to the NBA and none of them were our guards
All I said was that Coleman was a good college PG. I don't give a **** about your summer league. This is the wrong thread for hoops, so let's take it to the proper one.
I don’t care what you said I said Matt Coleman sucks And I’ll say it again people brought up Shaka and you dropped your half a cent @raining threes
